"Do it again Mani," Ally demanded, replaying the song. I groaned and listened to the piano intro to my song, taking a deep breath.

How soon do we forget, how we felt

Ally cut the music off, and I put the headphones around the mic. I stormed out of the room, sitting down in the desk chair. Ally replayed it, shaking her head. I groaned some more, swearing under my breath.

"Mani," Ally said gently. "You need to do this again, to put more emotion into it." I glared at her.

"Well," I sassed. "You know what? I can't put more emotion into it."

"Lauren would want you to-"

"Shut up Ally," I growled. "You don't know shit about Lauren so don't tell me what the hell she'd want me to do."

"Normani," Ally lectured. "You did not just curse at me."

"I did though," I crossed my arms.

"I'm looking for something," She muttered.

"A life?" Ally glared at me.

"No," She snapped. "I'm looking for who the hell you think you're talking to." I rolled my eyes, trying to walk out of the room when Ally grabbed my wrist.

A flashback came over me as I fought the tears that threatened my eyes. I remembered the last night Lauren and I were together - the night before she got shot and killed. My gaze darkened when I thought of Lucy. That bitch is dead if I have anything to say about it.

"Don't touch me," I hissed, grabbing my stuff and leaving the room.

Mani 👀💕💦: Hey Choie, can you come and pick me up from the studio?
Coco 🍪🍫😘: Hey Mani, what about ur car?
Mani 👀💕💦: Ally drove me here
Coco 🍪🍫😘: Oh ok. I'll be there in five minutes.

I walked outside and sat on the bench, watching as the valet pulled up with people's cars. I watched as Choie pulled up in her Toyota, shouting at the valet drivers when they tried to go park her car. She almost beat one with her purse!

"Y'all better back up," Choie threatened. "I've got my pepper spray!" I couldn't help but laugh.

"I said get out of my car!" The girl hustled over, raising her purse in the air and threatening to hit the man with it.

"Choie!" I shouted.

"Mani!" I ran and gave her a hug.

I walked to the passenger side and opened the door, getting into the car. Bitta by Eskeerdo was blasting as we drove off.

I felt all my thoughts of Lauren leave my mind. For now, it was just me and my best friend.
