~A/N~ HI EVERYONE! THANKS FOR READING THE BOOK! I'VE SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON IT!

There are a few notes I want to tell you before you start, which are quite important:

1) This is a Hogwarts AU, but you don't have to love Harry Potter to read it. It's better if you know the plot, but this story won't include lots of drama about the main plot. Any part it does contain I tried to thoroughly explain.

2) This is set starting in 1991, when Harry, Ron and Hermione went to school, so the boys and main character are in the same year as them.

3) The story has 7 parts and it's 121 chapters in total, but this is because each part is about one of the years at Hogwarts. The first 2 parts won't be too long as I won't go into too much detail, just around 14 chapters each, but they'll get longer so prepare yourself. At the start of each part is an author's note giving some information about how long it is, trigger warnings, what it involves and relationship building, etc. I advise that you read them.

4) There's not really any romance for the first three parts - it's all about friendship and character building, but there are still major events that are referred to later in the book so don't skip them. They still have drama, but more friendship drama not relationship. That comes later.

5) I wrote the whole book in late 2016, then edited it, and am still editing as I publish it - just so it isn't confusing if I refer to later events in the author's notes.

6) Oh yeah, I named the character Leila. Please don't hate me for that, it's not because I wanted the story to be about me or anything, but I couldn't think of a name so was going to change it when I thought of a better one, then couldn't be bothered. I'm actually very different to Leila in the story, she's definitely not me.

7) Last thing, Leila and her family are British Pakistani. I'm an atheist, so the characters aren't religious and I don't talk about religion at all, only a tiny bit of the culture. I included it because I read the book Drunk Words Sober Thoughts (which is really good btw) and the main character is Filipino, and I loved learning about their culture from how it is portrayed in the book, so I decided to use my own experience as a British Pakistani to do this in Magic.

8) TRIGGER WARNING: In general, this book is very friendly but there are occasional mild implications of suicide and some graphic descriptions of torture near to the end.

Final thing! If you want to skip all the fluff, I'd recommend skipping to Part IV. I've put up an author's note there with a basic summary of what you need to know going in, but that's the bit I always start from if I'm rereading it.

This part is 14 chapters long, and doesn't really contain much romance, but lots of cute friendship and explanations which will help later in the story.

So yeah, that's all I wanted to say, apart from (shameless self promo) check out my book of One Shots which I wrote while I worked on this book so I was still active on my account!

Enjoy the book!

Leila xx
