"CAN'T YOU SHUT THAT OWL UP!" The charming voice of my bratty older sister floated up into my room, where I was sat reading with Kika the owl hooting away in her cage. Her incessant shrieking wasn't bothering me in the slightest, but apparently Zara was annoyed by it.

"She's an owl! I can't control her!" I yelled back, sighing deeply. This was a daily argument in the Ahmed household, one that had been going on all holiday. I couldn't wait to be back at Hogwarts - thank Merlin it was only a week until September.

"Don't sass me, otherwise you won't have a ride to that Magicon Ralley you want me to take you to today," Zara said, coming into my room and sending me a horrible glare. I wasn't sure which was worse - having her ignore me as she had been doing the first two weeks of holiday, or arguing with her 24/7 which had been happening since she decided avoiding me was too much work.

"It's Diagon Alley, appi," I corrected, knowing full well that she knew what it was.
(Translation: Older sister)

"Whatever," she scoffed. "It's a stupid name either way. Now get ready or we're not going."

With that, she disappeared down the stairs, making sure to slam the door of my room behind her. Soon after, I followed her downstairs to see my dad tying his laces at top speed.

"Where are you going?" I inquired.

"Work," he replied, rushing out of the door and slamming it in my face.

Typical. My family was rarely ever even in the same room together, as my parents were always tied up with work things. In fact, my mum was at a doctor's conference in Manchester for a week and my dad was at work in a financing company for most of the day, so I spent most of my time with my sisters or wandering the streets of my tiny village, Castle Combe, with Calum.

Castle Combe was a beautiful, sleepy place in Wiltshire, and was what could be described as a stereotypical village. Everyone knew everyone, and nothing much ever happened there. No one ever came or left, as the smart people had moved away as soon as possible. But still, something about the calm aura and friendly vibes drew me to the village, and I knew I would never be one of the people to leave. How could I, when all my friends and family lived there (except for my Hogwarts friends)?

We had the baker, the butcher, and old man Gregory who owned the one little grocery shop where everyone bought their food. There was the village gossip, Miss Amberly Weatherson, the policewoman Emma, and of course the poor family of farmers, the Hawthorns. We were a stereotypical village where nothing ever changed.

Of course, there was also the huge family with many children, and I am not even slightly ashamed to say that it was the Ahmeds. What with all our cousins, we easily populated a quarter of the village. This meant that I was quite well known as "that little Leila Ahmed" or "one of the Ahmed twins", though I was often mistaken for my sister, Naadiya. It was a great place, even if everyone knew everything about everybody. There were no secrets in the town, except one.

Somehow, no one had found out I was a witch. They all believed I went to a boarding school in Cornwall, and didn't think anything about the way Zara acted. I guess they put it down to stress from University.

Of course, this sudden social doorway into my village meant I had many more friends now at home than I had ever had before. It made me so happy, and I put it down to the boys helping me with my social skills. I couldn't wait to thank them at the next opportunity, which actually happened to be that day.

As my parents had forced Zara to take Naadiya, Sofiyah and I to Diagon Alley for my school supplies, I had arranged to meet with Luke and Michael there. This would be the first time seeing them since school had ended - 'nervous' was an understatement.
