I hadn't stopped thinking about what Hagrid had said, almost like when I first figured out I liked Luke. It consumed my every thought and clearly showed in the way I spoke and acted, for he often worriedly asked me if I was ok whenever I drifted off in his ocean eyes.

'Love'.

It was a short word but ever so big, and not one I ever thought I would use in a different manner than platonically, but as time passed by the feeling bulged in my chest, suffocating me in a drowning sea of red.

Fortunately, everyone else had other things on their minds. More specifically, Umbridge.

"I can't believe she kicked us off the team!" Fred bellowed, throwing himself onto the rug at my feet to roll around in anger.

"What do you mean?" Luke perked up.

"Umbridge has taken Fred, Harry and I off the Quidditch team!" George yelled, face red as a beetroot. This caught the attention of all the Gryffindors, including an irate Angelina Johnson, and soon the common room was filled with angry shouts.

"What are we going to do?!" Luke asked loudly, and silence fell over us as the captain thought about it.

"We have no choice," Angelina sighed wearily. "We're going to have to hold emergency tryouts. We can't go against Umbridge. Everyone, spread the word! Tryouts will be on Friday, I want to see as many people there as possible!"

The common room dissolved into excited chatter, and Fred and George bristled as they stormed up to their dormitory. Luke still appeared to be furious, but Ginny had a gleam of anticipation in her eye.

"I think I might try out as Seeker," she said nonchalantly, but Luke squealed.

"Yes! You have to, oh Merlin! I didn't know you could fly?"

"Yep," my best friend smiled. "I used to sneak out my brothers' brooms and train on my own. I'm not the best, but it's worth a shot."

"I'm so proud of you!" I laughed, and Luke sent me a sideways smile.

"You could always try out for a position as Beater."

"You're not serious," I snorted. "Do you not remember flying lessons in first year?"

"Maybe you will have improved," he said with a completely straight face, then burst out laughing. "I'm kidding, calm down! You look horrified!"

He ruffled my hair and I shivered, my heart rate doubling at the contact and echoes of Hagrid's words playing in my ears.

"You okay?" he asked, tapping my nose.

"Yeah," I let out a shaky breath. "Just perfect."

"Avoid the mistletoe!" Ginny pulled me out of the way so I successfully dodged the vine hanging from the ceiling adorned with sparkling crimson berries.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that." My eyes instantly narrowed as I stared hard at the Weasley twins in the corner as they waved back innocently. Their pranks had extended even to the DA meetings, as they had hung sprigs of charmed mistletoe around the Room of Requirement, charmed to trap the two people underneath it until they kissed.

As much as I loved Ginny, I didn't particularly want to kiss her.

"So, it's the final meeting before the Christmas holidays and I thought we could just recap the stuff we've been learning," Harry announced, once again instructing everyone on what to do before leaving us to get into pairs. "Oh, and Ginny, congratulations on making Seeker. You'll make the Gryffindor team proud."
