Hey guys this is my first attempt at writing a fiction. I hope you'll like it and I'd really appreciate all types of feedback and suggestions to make it better. Here it goes..
And the girl in the picture is how I imagine Candice to be!
Candice's POV
"Get up Candy! You don't want to get late for school." I heard my brother shout from the living room.
I opened my eyes and tossed and turned to see the clock which read 6:00 AM. I struggled opening my eyes properly. I sat on my bed, rubbing my eyes when my door flung open and my brother Liam came in.
"Good Morning baby doll" He greeted me with a smile.
"Good Morning" I replied.
Liam is the only person I trust or should I say, the only person I have in my life. He has been the only support I have since my mother died last month. Had he not been there for me all along, I don't think I would be seeing this day.
"Go brush your teeth and take a shower, I'll prepare your breakfast" He said. I nodded, and with this he left my room, gently closing the door. I got up and went into the bathroom, reluctantly.
Today is the first day of high school and I wish it was over already! I brushed my teeth and stepped into the shower. I stood there for long, letting the hot water wash away my thoughts, my anxiety and my nervousness.
I didn't realise for how long I had been there until I heard Liam call out for me.
"Are you ready yet Candy?" He called out.
"Just give me a few more minutes" I said. With this, I wrapped a towel around me and stepped out of the shower.
I opened my closet and picked out a skinny black jeans, a white sweatshirt and white sneakers to go with.
Then I tamed my long and wavy brown hair and let them loose. I noticed the bags under my eyes and I was not really bothered to cover them in a pool of makeup! So I just put some mascara on the eyelashes in an attempt to make my blue eyes a bit more presentable!
I walked downstairs and saw Liam in the kitchen, preparing breakfast for me. As soon as he heard me coming down, he turned around and handed me the plate.
"Here you go baby girl!" He said and sat down.
I just thanked him and sat on the chair next to him.
"So! Are you excited for the first day of high school?" He asked curiously.
"No!" I replied bluntly.
Liam frowned a little but understood the reason behind my reluctance to go to school.
He shifted closer to me and placed his hands on my shoulder, trying to comfort me.
"Candy, stay positive and positive shall happen to you." He finally spoke.
I sat unmoving there.
"Forget whatever happened in the past and try to grab this opportunity, to start afresh, with both the hands. I know you can do that. Good luck with the first day." He spoke.
I stood up and hugged him. "Thank you Liam, I don't know what would I do without you."
He kissed my forehead and pulled the front door open for me.
I stepped out of the door and took a long breath, in an attempt to calm myself down.
"You can do it! " I reminded myself and recalled my brother's words -" Stay positive and positive shall happen to you"
I started walking and after about 15 minutes I finally reached the building. I stood there, frozen, until I felt a hand on my shoulder...
