Jake cleared his throat.
"June 1st, 2016. Last night I had another dream about Jean. Why do fictional characters have to be better than real people? I wish I could just live in an anime world and escape this one."
"June 10th, 2016. More dreams about Jeanbo. Honestly, I don't think I've ever crushed on an anime character this much before."
Tears welled in my eyes as he continued. I avoided making eye contact with Jean. I could feel him staring at me.
"But seriously, where is season two of Attack on Titan? It was supposed to have come out two months ago." He stopped, trying to find a more interesting part to read.
Another boy named Mark spoke up. "I was really expecting something more embarrassing. This is just dumb. They're already dating, so this doesn't affect them at all."
They didn't know that we weren't dating. They only thought that because of our conversation at lunch. This was pretty bad, but I refused to let it show.
"I'm not throwing away my shot!" A female (maybe?) voice screeched.
Mark was on the ground.
Once he fell, it revealed Hanji and the gang ready to fight.
Jean did his signature backflip thing and knocked out a few more.
One minute later, Jean and I were free and the rest of our squad stood tall and strong.
"Did you hear any of that?" I asked Hanji.
"Very little. We saw that you two didn't get on the bus and we all saw you in cyber security. So... We knew something was up and decided to look for you guys and found you here."
"Wow. Thank you all so much! You saved me from a lot of embarrassment."
"Speaking of which," Eren handed me the diary. "Here."
"Thank you titan boy."
We smiled at each other for a second, but Jean interrupted us.
"So, now how do we get home?"
I gestured for everyone to follow me, leaving the bullies unconscious on the pavement.
