"Hank Pym?" Sarah asked, amazed she was standing in front of the greatest scientists she had ever known.
He just laughed. "You are a lot bigger than your dad told us."
Dad talked about me? Sarah thought. He doesn't usually talk about his family to strangers. "Wow, umm... thanks. But... where am I?"
"I will explain everything after we eat. Do you like tea?" Sarah nodded slightly and slowly sat in a chair. "How many sugars?" Hank asked.
"One please." Sarah responded. She looked around. Hank and Hope did not move. They were staring at something. She looked in the same place they were. An ant was carrying a chunk of sugar and placing it in her cup. Sarah jumped from reflexes and stood by the wall.
Hank and Hope laughed. "Your father had the same reaction." Hope said.
"Okay, how do know my dad, why and how is that ant putting sugar into that cup, and why did you save me?" Sarah was starting to hyperventilate. This is all some crazy dream. I'll wake up soon. I'll be in my own bed and Cassie will be home.
"Hey, kid, take it easy." Hope knelt down beside Sarah. "Here, take a seat. We'll explain everything." Sarah, with shaky legs, wobbled over to the table and sat down.
"Now," Hank started, "to answer your questions. One, like I had said before, I was his mentor when he became Ant-Man. Two, I am controlling the ant with this ear piece." He pulled his little piece of hair that was covering the technology. "It allows me to tap into their brain cells and tell them what they need to do. I am doing it because this specific ant is our newest, so I am getting him adjusted to the tech. And three, after the man in the Yellow Jacket costume knocked you into that wall, Hope shot him with a repulser from her own suit, and we thought it would be safest if you came here."
Sarah's mind was blown. Controlling ants, another suit, brain cells... Her mind was spinning out of control. "But, that is--"
"Impossible?" Hope finished. I nodded. "You saw your dad do it, didn't you?"
Sarah put her hand to her head. "Sorry, I'm just trying to wrap my head around all of this. First my dad is gone, then the suit in the basement, and now--"
"What suit?" Hank inquired.
"Dad left me a suit that looked exactly like his. Here, I have the note." Sarah handed the note to Hank Pym.
"Where is the suit?" he asked.
"In my backpack, but I don't know where that is."
"Is it red with white circuitry lines on them?" Sarah nodded. Hank turned to Hope. "Will you get that, please?" Hope turned around and got Sarah's backpack from the kitchen. It was a little dusty from the school wall, but it was still in decent shape.
Sarah opened it. Yes, it's not damaged. She took it out and handed it to Hope and Hank. They inspected it. "You're right," Hank responded, "your dad did make this. This type of welding and sewing is exactly what your father would do."
"Speaking of my dad," Sarah asked, "do you know where he is? Cassie said he shrank and never came back."
They bowed their heads. "I'm sorry, Sarah, but he is stuck being subatomic."
Sarah fell back in her chair. He really was gone. Sarah wiped her tears away and asked, "So, what did you need me for?"
"Well," Hank started, "We were going to use your hacking abilities to help find your dad, but maybe... you could do more." Hank Pym just stared at the suit.
Hope looked at her dad. "Are you sure she can do it? I could go in and--"
"She knows exactly where her dad shrunk, you don't."
"True. But, what about blacking out? Won't she black out faster?"
Sarah had had enough with all of the secrecy. "Okay, what the heck are you all talking about?!"
They turned to her. Hank spoke up and said, "Tell me, do you look up to your dad?"
Sarah responded, "All the time. I want to do what he does... after his life of crime, of course."
Hope asked, "Do you want to save your dad?"
"Of course I would. He and Cassie are the two people I need in my life, and they are both gone. I need to get them back."
Hank turned to Hope. Hope nodded. Hank turned back to Sarah and inquired, "How would you like to be the next Ant-Man?"
Sarah mind burst. Her, be the one to help save her dad and everyone else on the planet?
"Absolutely."
"Well, Sarah," Hank said, "it's time to start your journey. Your journey of becoming the next Ant-Man."
Hello! I know, the ending is so cheesy, but I had to end it somehow.
Bye!
