Sarah sat in classrooms all day but never paid attention. All that was circling through her head was her conversation with Darron Cross. Every part of her body told her to go to Hank and Hope for help. But, somehow, someway, Darron knew when she was with them. And she would never do something that could put Cassie in danger.
The end of the school day finally came, and Sarah went out to her bus. She was extra hesitant about getting on, making sure that it was actually her bus driver before stepping on the bus.
The day was exhausting; not just the homework load, per say, even though it was a lot for tonight, but it was an emotionally-draining day. So many people had already heard that Cassie was missing, and so they are asking Sarah about it all day. All Sarah wanted to do was go into an empty classroom and let out all of her emotions, whether that be silently crying or yelling at the top of her lungs.
Her head touched the cool bus window, and her eyes immediately fell down, allowing her to enter the darkness and silence.

Sarah woke up to the bus driver calling her name. She shot up and scrambled to get her things together. Running off, she said, "Thank you," and hopped off of the bus...
And slammed on her brakes.
She was standing in front of a house that she didn't want to go back to any time soon.
Hank and Hope's house.
Sarah turned around to get back on the bus, but it had already sped off. She turned back to the house when she heard the door opening.
"Sarah, glad you made it."
It was Hank. He walked out closer to Sarah, but Sarah walked backwards at the same rate. Hank quickly got the memo and stopped. He adjusted his glasses and asked, "Is something wrong, Sarah?"
She didn't speak. She had no idea how Darron could know when she was with Hank and Hope, so she didn't want to make any contact with them in case Darron knew.
Hope walked out behind Hank and smiled at her. Sarah wanted to smile back, but all she could do was stare with a worried look plastered onto her face.
"Sarah," Hope asked, "are you feeling alright? You look pale."
Sarah didn't even realize that she was getting out of breath until then. She quickly realized what was happening.
She was having a severe panic attack.
All of the thoughts of Darron killing Cassie swirled in her mind and engulfed her in fear. Her knees buckled, and her sight vanished into the darkness once more.

She awoke yet again, but this time from the annoying beeping next to her. She groaned and waved her hand around, trying to turn off the alarm.
"I wouldn't start messing with that if I were you."
Sarah slowly turned towards the voice to see a man with white hair and a white goatee.
Hank.
Sarah started to try and crawl away, but she ran out of bed room and fell onto the floor. Her left arm caught onto something attached to the bed.
Once her sight started to clear up, she could see that she was in a hospital. The so-called "alarm" she was hearing was her heart-rate monitor simply doing its job. Her left arm had an IV in it, as well. Sarah rubbed her eyes and sighed. "Hey," she responded monotone.
Hank took a step back toward the door. "What's wrong? You seemed very scared back at the house."
Sarah wanted to tell him the truth so badly, but Darron's voice kept ringing in the back of her mind.
"Do not make any more contact with Hank or Hope, and I will let her live."
Sarah said, "I'm fine."
Hank didn't believe that for a second. Sarah looked like she was in stress, but questioning her about it might make it worse. Hank simply placed his fingers up to his ear. In a few seconds, the room began to get darker. Sarah looked around in fear to see how this was happening. She figured out that there were ants covering the cameras and the lights. She eased up; it was more private now.
Adjusting his glasses, Hank said, "We know about Darron talking to you earlier today."
Sarah froze once again. If he knows then does he know about what he said about Cassie?
"Don't worry," Hank said, "besides my earpiece for the ants, the technology here is down, so there is no way that Darron could hear us."
She still wasn't fully sure. She looked at Hank and pointed towards her backpack. Hank walked over and grabbed her backpack and opened it. He picked up her laptop and showed it to Sarah. She nodded, and Hank brought it over to her. On the hospital floor, Sarah stayed on her knees and turned on her computer. Sarah turned it to Hank to restore internet connection to it.
Hank asked, "What are you trying to do?"
Sarah just pointed to the internet symbol. Hank sighed, wishing he had gotten a straight answer. Reluctantly, he programmed the computer to reconnect to a secure internet connection. Sarah took the computer back and hacked into the hospital. She ran facial recognition, looking for a specific name.
He wasn't here.
Darron wasn't in the hospital.
Sarah disconnected and gave Hank a tight hug, crying into his shoulder. Hank was hesitant, but returned the favor. "Sarah, what's wrong?"
Sarah sniffled before saying, "Darron h-has Cassie. H-He said if... i-if I talked to you g-guys about it, he would k-k-kill her!" She cried harder.
"Shh, it's okay," Hank said comfortingly, "we know about Cassie. Hope and I are working on finding a way to communicate with you." He pulled out of the hug and let Sarah regain her regular breathing pattern. "For now," Hank walked over to Sarah's backpack, carrying Sarah's laptop, and held up a burner phone, "use this to contact us." He placed both the laptop and the burner phone in her backpack. "When you are in a safe place, contact us."
Sarah nodded, wiping away her tears and stepping back into her hospital bed. "Thanks, Hank."
Hank nodded back and headed towards the door, signaling the ants to uncover the cameras and lights. It became brighter in the room again as Hank walked out and closed the door behind him.
Sarah sighed in relief and looked over at her backpack. She smiled to herself; she might be able to save Cassie after all...
