How To Save Them All?

All Sarah could focus on was her breathing. It was taking all of her might to keep a steady breath that she was having trouble figuring out what was happening around her. There were muffles noises that seemed to be in a panic. Sarah would have felt the same way if she weren't in immense pain.

Her eye sight began to clear up. She could make out the shapes of people. One person was being dragged over to the corner of the room with bright light around them (more than likely her dad being taken for subatomic extraction), another smaller person sitting next to Sarah (she knew it was Cassie by the big eyes), and one another person being held back by a smaller one, which she could easily recognize as her mother holding back Sarah's stepfather from risking his life to save Scott.

Sarah's sight went in and out again. She knew what was about to happen to her dad, so her brain began to race. How could she save him as well as get back on her feet? There were tons of possibilities flowing through her head, but they just made her head hurt even more. Her eyelids became more heavy as her mind became even more numb.

However, something down near her stomach began to feel cold yet... better. Her sight was returning, this time being able to make out specific people. Cassie was sitting in front of Sarah, looking down at Sarah's stomach. Sarah looked as well to see her stomach covered in ants. While it terrified Sarah to see what looked like ants eating her stomach, her wound was getting smaller.

She turned to see Hope with one hand to her ear. Sarah knew instantly; she was controlling the ants. Hope looked up at Sarah. "Ants are known for licking the wounds of their injured ants in order to keep them alive," she explained at a whisper (No, seriously, look it up), "Hank and I thought it could be a useful aid on the field, so we genetically modified them to be able to heal human wounds at a much faster pace." Hope gestured to Hank. "They've already patched Hank up."

Sarah looked astonished between Hope and Hank. Hope was right; Hank's wound was completely healed (of course, there was still blood on his clothes). Sarah never thought about the implications of genetic modification of ants before. It was genius!

"Cassie," Hope whispered, "I need you to lift Sarah up just a little. The ants will help sew Sarah's suit back together." Hope looked down at Sarah one more time. "Are you good to fight?"

"Always." Sarah responded with a small grin.

"Your helmet is about three paces to your 2 o'clock. You'll have around 4 seconds to shrink before Darron can try and shoot."

"Why 4 seconds?" Sarah asked.

Hank jumped into the conversation to answer with, "That's the time it takes for a fire ant's bite to take effect as well as your brain to focus solely on the pain."

Hank was sitting up a little more, his hand by his ear, too. Sarah smiled. Hank and Hope were on top of it.

"Almost done..." Hope informed.

Sarah looked back up at Darron and her dad to see what was going on.

"Why can't you take the subatomic particles when you go subatomic?" Scott asked, more than likely trying to stall for time. Sarah knew her dad, and he did not understand the subatomic realm at all. Luckily, he is really good at faking it. "You can get the energy directly from there."

"My body is too weak," Darron explained with an eye roll, "I would not survive."

"But, you would only need a one-way trip. Once you reach subatomic level, wouldn't the particles be able to heal your damaged cells?"

Darron rolled his eyes. "I'd be in an air-tight suit, idiot. Nothing could get in." He shook his hands in the air. "You are simply wasting my time." He began to walk back over to his laptop.
