It has been two days since Darron threatened me with Cassie's life.
Sarah could simply stay silent for another six days, and Cassie would be safe.
But, would the world be safe?
What is Darron trying to do? Is it something to do with Scott or Hope or Hank? Was Darron going to go subatomic, too? What did Cassie have to do with it?
Ideas were spinning in Sarah's head so fast that they were all blending together to create a messy theory that Darron was creating his own space station to destroy the world while keeping Cassie trapped on the space station, and Sarah would be trapped in the quantum realm watching the whole thing.
Sarah had to sit down.
Her bed seemed very comforting at the moment, inviting her to sleep in a little longer. However, she had school to get to. She sighed and got changed into sweatpants and a hoodie, not really feeling up to dressing up.
Her mom knocked once and peeked through the doorway. "The school just called," she told Sarah, "wanted to remind everyone about a field trip today."
"Got it. Thanks!" With that, her mom closed the door.
Sarah face-palmed herself. She had completely forgot. Great, now she actually had to dress professional. Quickly, she changed into a maroon pantsuit and black flats, fixing her hair into a low bun.
She ran down the stairs, one hand pinning her hair in place and the other fixing her backpack strap. She grabbed a granola bar and headed off to the bus.

The class made it to the field trip destination: a new chemical research institute. It was pretty much all white with large glass windows everywhere. There was not a speck of dirt or dust anywhere, which made a lot of people stop and stare at nothing but a wall of white, mesmerized by the sheer whiteness of it. Sarah simply sighed and looked around at the various tools and containers of chemicals. Nothing really seemed to interest her here; she was more on the computer-side of science.
She wandered off a little from the group to watch robotic arms carefully move a chemical jar from one location to another. The precise programming needed to be able to grip it and move it perfectly astounded Sarah.
However, before she could fully enjoy the experience, she saw something out of the corner of her eye.
It was a series of "somethings."
Ants.
There were a hundred ants all walking in a line leading to Sarah. The front-most ants had something strapped to their backs. They slid it off of them and touched the right side of the package.
It grew into normal size.
Her suit.
Sarah smiled wide. They sent it back! There was a note attached to it: "We've found something. Use this to get over here."
Without hesitation, Sarah through her suit into her backpack and rejoined the group, asking the teacher if she could use the restroom. Reluctantly, the teacher agreed and continued on with the rest of the class.
Sarah ran into the nearest bathroom, put on the suit, and looked at herself in the mirror. She saw her dad in the suit looking back at her.
But, this time, she wasn't sad. She knew that she was going to help him.
She had to.
Sarah shrunk down the ant size and climbed onto one of the many ants that were following her.
This was one step closer to finding her father.
This was one step closer to being a hero.
Geez, I am not good at keeping promises.
