Later that day, Sarah was finally released from the hospital. Her stepfather left the police station early to pick her up. They drove back in silence while Sarah stared hopelessly out of the back seat window. She didn't know whether she could tell her dad about Darron Cross, especially with Darron's threat still looming over her.
"So," Sarah's stepdad asked, "why were back over at Hank and Hope's house so soon? I wouldn't think you would go back for a bit."
Sarah lied and said, "I just really want to help find Cassie."
Her stepdad stopped at the stoplight, turned around to face Sarah, and sighed. "Sarah, let the police find Cassie. We know what we are doing, and we are already one step closer to finding her."
Sarah's eyes lit up. "You are?! What did you find?"
Her stepdad raised his eyebrow and answered, "If I tell you even a hint as to what we found, you will just head straight back to Hank's and Hope's house. I won't say this again: let us do our jobs."
Sarah looked down in defeat and nodded in agreement. Her stepdad turned back around and started driving when the light turned green.
I am truly sorry!! Things were really hectic, so I jotted something down tonight. More on the way!!
