April 1
Rudy's POV
I rummaged through my bookcase trying to find a book to read. Everything was going well until I heard the panic of my father. Sunday is usually the day I sit down and read historical books, such as To Kill a Mockingbird, and drink apple juice. This Sunday was different.

As usual, my brother Vincent and I were always dropped at Uncle Seven's place. The greetings we receive from him and his significant other weren't different at all. Vincent would usually wink at Aunt MC while Seven pouts out of pure jealousy. I, on the opposite side of the stick, always read a book from my library. Last Sunday, I was reading the first book of the Sherlock series: A Study in Scarlet. Today, I picked up the first book I saw, and that was The Book Thief.

"Whatcha reading?" Seven asked in a 'Whatcha doin' tone. "The Book Thief." I replied as I turned to the next page. "Who steals the book?" He asked as he sat next to me. "I don't think this has anything to do with an actual book their. The title may be a reference to something in this book." I replied. "Rudy, you know you can always borrow books from me." Seven said as he adjusted his glasses. "What do you mean?" I asked as I placed my bookmark inside the book. "Follow me."

The insanely smart uncle of mine led me inside his "study". He never lets me, Vincent, or his own girlfriend inside. 'Why is letting me inside?' I thought. He pointed towards the massive bookcase that stands in the corner. All shelves are filled with books. Each shelf is a different genre. There's science fiction, historical fiction, nonfiction, children's book, romance novels, everything!! "I didn't know you were a reader." I said as I took steps closer to the bookcase. "When I was your age, reading was all I did. Books were my getaway from life." Seven's voice darkened. His usual playful tone turned into strict depression. "Books were my boyfriends until I met this boy." I began as I put the book to my heart. "I stopped reading books because fantasies of him and me were invading my thoughts." A goofy smile appeared on my uncle's face. "What is it?!" I asked becoming frustrated with his idiotic ways. "Does mini Jumin Han is gay?"

MC opened the door for my parents to walk in. My aunt's squeal filled the room. "Awe! Who is that little bean~! She's so cute!!" In father's arms was a baby. "MC this is Victoria. She will never separate from her father." My mom replied as she rolled her eyes. MC giggled. "Looks like you have competition for Jumin's attention, Y/N!" Vincent crossed the white floor towards our parents. I trailed behind him. "Who's that beauty?" He asked, giving his narcissistic wink. "You boys have a little sister." Our mother said as she looked down at us. "I need you two to do me a favor. Are you listening?" Our father asked. "Yes, sir." We both replied in unison. "This is an order: I want you to to protect your sister with all your might. Don't let anyone hurt or abuse her. You boys are royal knights and princes. Got it?" We both nodded. "Yes, sir." Our mother let out a sigh. "Ever since he married me, we were called the 'royal couple'. Now we're basically the royal family." She presses her palm against her forehead. MC laughed. "You're so funny, Y/N! I can't wait to see the boys when they grow up!" Our father looked at MC. "Well, Vincent has been growing fast recently. Rudy- not so much."

My father isn't wrong. My eating habits are very poor. I don't eat a lot like Vincent. My brother eats like a hog, but he never gains weight. He just grows taller. I promised my love that I would eat more, but I'm not always hungry. My father had been nagging me about eating three balanced meals a day.

It was nine. The moon shone brighter than the teeth in Vincent's mouth. Mom, Dad, and Vincent were asleep. I was sitting in the chair diagonal across from Victoria's crib. She was awake, but quiet. I could see her big grey eyes in the dark. "Want me to read you a bed time story?" I asked looking at the newborn. I pulled one of the children's books of the shelf. "This one is called If You Give a Pig a Pancake." I opened the book and began to read. After I read the final sentence, Victoria was drifted off into a peaceful sleep. "Good night, V." I whispered as I tip toed to my room.
