Jumin's Point of View
It has been months since the reopening of Ethel Industries. It has been a little lonely without Mr. Holmes's watercooler humor. His stapler jokes were the best. I remember him always telling me to "lighten up." I never really understood what it meant. I'm always so happy and energetic at home. My mind kept reminding me of all the wonderful things that Mr. Holmes has done for the company. My lip began to quiver as I looked at the photo of all the groomsmen on my desk. Mr. Holmes' smile was still bright, even though it was through an old photo. The atmosphere of my office turned into a void. My thoughts were heavy and my heart was empty. The setting of the sun darkened the room, adding melancholy to the ambiance. Mr. Holmes' absence reminded me of how tiresome the facility is.✧ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✦✧✦ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✧
The ambiance of my home was still the same. My wife is still her joyful self, and the kids still had their zing. Supper was the norm: Y/N was making delicious food as Victoria acts as a waitress. "What would you boys like to drink?" She asked in a mocking country accent. "Dr. Pepper." The twins replied in unison. "I'll have water." Victoria let out a frustrated sigh. "Dad, you always get water." She whined. "Water is a healthy choice. You have to stay hydrated." Y/N giggled as she grabbed empty plates. Victoria let out a defeated sigh and poured our drinks into individual glasses. As she set the glasses on the table, Y/N served our meals. "Today's meal is Capellini with Basil Pesto!" Y/N exclaimed happily. The kids stared at the dish with pure disgust. "Why is it green?" Victoria asked with pure disgust. "I wanted to try something with the basil we had." I could sense that Y/N was feeling discouraged. "Kids, eat a few bites of the pasta then give mom your honest opinion." The kids nodded and each took a forkful. Each of their eyes lit up, giving us the impression that the food was amazing. "Never judge a book by its cover." I chuckled to myself, taking a forkful. Before Y/N could sit down, the doorbell ring. "I'll get it." She chirped as she crossed the wooden floors towards the door. "SURPRISE!" Mr. Holmes was standing on the other side with his arms wide open, signaling a hug. Y/N jumped into her father's arms, hugging him tightly. "It's good to see you, father!" The whiff of our dinner made its way to Mr. Holmes. "What's cooking? I'm starving!" He makes his way inside, making his presence known. "Hey, kids!" He greeted the children with his usual cheerful voice. "Hey, grandpa!" They greet unison. My father-in-law takes the empty seat across from Y/N's plate. "How's the company, ol' sport?" He asked, showing his pearly whites. "The company is back to how it was before you showed up." I replied, trying to take the dullness out of my tone. Y/N placed a serving of pasta on her plate. He thanked her as she took her seat across.

Silence rose into the room. All you could hear was the fork scraping the plates and air going through straws. "You hate that I left the company?" Mr. Holmes asked, taking a sip of his favorite drink: ginger ale. "What makes you think that?" I replied, playing with the last strands of pasta on my plate like a child. "When I walked into your company, I could feel that everyone was unhappy, even you. I couldn't bear to see you all work like that." My heart sunk in my chest. My thoughts were heavy just like they were in the office. "You know what I'm talking about, Jumin. The chairman lives the way he does because his life is boring. Hopping from woman to woman gives him excitement." Y/N arose from the table and removed all the empty dishes. The kids went their separate ways and so did Y/N, leaving me and her father alone. "It doesn't matter what his life is like. Being a womanizer is not a professional look." I began, refilling my glass of water. "You're not wrong there." He paused for and collected his words for his next sentence. "You're lucky you met my daughter. She makes you happy." He is right. I nodded to agree with his statement. The man chuckled and rose from the table. "I noticed that she had brightened your life. I could sense that you were living in a dark void before you fell in love." A faint streak of red crept across my cheek. "You're not wrong," I stated. "she's my everything." The father of my wife revealed his pearly whites. His smile always brought life to into the scene. "I know she is." The man exited, saying his farewells to his daughter and his grandkids. In the doorway, the man turned to me and gave another one of his million-dollar smiles. "Thanks for making her happy, ol' sport."
