"I can't believe I didn't make it," Victoria mumbled as she slowly made her inside the house. I followed her. "Hey, Princess! Hey Queen!" Jumin greeted us. He looked down to notice the depressed look on his daughter's face. "Who do I need to kill?" Jumin asked looking at his daughter. "Jumin, I swear to god, don't kill anyone!" I said. "I'm just concerned about Victoria, that's all." He replied. "I didn't make the badminton team." She replied. "They're the best in the region." Jumin hugged his daughter tightly. "You're still the best badminton player that walks this earth. Don't let them break you, okay?" A small tear crept down her porcelain cheeks. "They already did." She walked upstairs and closed the door to her room.✧ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✦✧✦ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✧
"I can't believe she didn't make the team!" My husband groaned as she slipped on his pajama pants. "I understand that you both are upset, but she may be too young for a championship team." I said. "She is only five." Jumin sat on the bed next to me. "I don't think age matters. She has skills." I nodded in agreement. "She does have a lot of skill, but it's scary to think of our kindergarten daughter playing badminton with a bunch of adults." Jumin fell silent. "Are there any teams for children her age?" I shook my head. "No, not in this region." Another groan escaped my husband's lips. "Shit."

The next morning was worse than yesterday evening. Victoria wouldn't eat her breakfast. "V, why are you not eating?" Rudy asked, looking at his younger sister. "Not hungry." She said. Victoria kept her grey eyes locked on pancakes her father made for her. (Pancakes are the only thing he knows how to make.) "Is it about that badminton team? You'll make it next time." Vincent said, trying to cheer up his sister. "What if there's no next time?" She said with a faint voice. "Princess, you're amazing for your age. It's just one team. You can still play for fun." Jumin said as he brushed the curls of his daughter's dark hair. "Your father is right, Victoria. You still have the backyard to play all your badminton games." I added. "We don't own a net!" Victoria replied; her eyes were aiming for the soccer goal in the backyard. "V, we may get one soon. Patience is key." Rudy said, giving his sister a thumbs up. "Yeah, sure."

The kids decided to walk to and from school. Jumin went to work, leaving me alone with Elizabeth and Alexander. (It's funny that I haven't mentioned them much anymore.) Elizabeth would not go a centimeter without Alexander. They're probably a little kitty couple. I watched the two cats play until my phone rang. "Hello?" I answered. "Hey, Y/N! Jaehee here!" The voice replied. "Hey, Jaehee, what's up?!" I asked, oddly concerned at why she's calling on her job. "Mr. Han told me that Victoria wasn't doing well. If I'm not mistaken, her birthday is around the corner?" "Yes. Jumin and I are planning the party." I could hear the dynamic change in Jaehee's voice. "That's great! I could help with decor if you would like?" "That would be amazing, Jaehee! When are you able to help plan?" I asked, knowing that Jumin's schedule is pretty damn booked. "I'll come after work, with Mr. Han!" "That's awesome!" Our conversation ended in its usual way. I let out a sigh. "Victoria never talks about her making new friends," I said out loud, knowing that I'm home alone and the cats wouldn't understand.

The door swung open, revealing the twins with their sister. "We're home!" The twins said in unison. Victoria was awfully silent for an extrovert. "Hey, guys, how was school?" I asked as they closed the door after them. "The same." They all said in unison. Victoria's depressing expression was slightly better than before. "You seem to have cheered up a bit. May I ask why?" I asked, invited the girl to sit next to me. "I saw V, with a guy about her age," Vincent smirked, trying to embarrass his sister. "They were being so nice to each other!" Rudy added. Victoria's rosy cheeks, grew a bright red. "We're just friends, mom! Don't get the wrong idea." I motioned the boys to mind their own business, and that's exactly what they did. "So, who is this boy?" I asked running my fingers through her hair. "Alan." She replied, avoiding my eye contact. "Keep going." I said, growing oddly anxious to hear her story. "He's the only reason why I want to go to school. He's the only one who treats me nicely." "Other kids are being rude to you?" "They don't talk to me. Alan was the one who said I should play badminton." "Did you tell him about yesterday?" She nodded at my question. "He was very upset. He always encourages me to get better at badminton, and that's what I did." I felt my heart warm up. "Are you going to quit playing just because you didn't make the team?" I asked lifting a brow. "No, ma'am!" She replied. "I'm going to play alone, so I could get better!" Victoria hopped down from the couch and ran upstairs to get dressed for badminton. She held her favorite racket in her hand as she made her way downstairs. "Alan gave me this racket."
