After Alexa left, the nurse checked on me. She said I would have to stay in the infirmary to sleep tomorrow, but that I can do whatever the rest of the initiates are doing during the day, as long as we don't leave the compound. She also asked me how I was doing, then instructed me to take it easy the next week or so. However, I wasn't really listening to her. My thoughts were focused entirely on Alexa's story. How much it reminded me of myself and my life.
Her perfect brother sounded exactly like Caleb- it was almost as if she was describing him, not her own brother. And that voice in the back of her mind, that small, niggling feeling that she doesn't really fit in anywhere. I knew exactly what she meant. What it might mean for her, aswell. I'd tried to forget about this. I knew it meant trouble. Not conforming to the rules; not fitting in; knowing that you don't fit in. It screams trouble.
Alexa could be Divergent. Like me.
