Chapter 9

Gabriel was stunned by her words and wasn't able to respond from her final statement.

"What do you mean by that?" He asked her finally. His eyes straight to hers.

She look away and distant herself.

"Napag-isip isip ko kasi that we were too apart, na parang you know ang hirap ipilit yung isang bagay na wala na all those years."

"I don't understand Yan! Can you please tell me straight to the point."

Marian heaves a sigh before she replied. "Masaya ka pa ba? Are you happy with our set up?"

"Why did you asked?"

"Just answer it."

"What if I said Yes and apart of it is No?"

" Then maybe..." She speak trying to figure out her words. "Maybe what?"

"Maybe...we...we should..end.." Her lips trembled until those words left unsaid.

"Hindi ko kaya." She covered her mouth turning her back. "Hindi ko pa kaya." She break down.

Gabriel follows her and pats her back. "Ssshhhhh. it's okay. And kung ano man yang sasabihin mo I'll be here."

She wiped her tears and face him. "Matagal ko na tong pinraktice at dapat matagal ko na to ginawa. Pero bakit pagkaharap na kita ang hirap, umuurong yung dila ko. Natatakot sa kung ano man ang mangyari sa atin. Ang duwag ko noh? Ang duwag duwag."

"Kung natatakot ka, mas natatakot ako Yan sa kung ano man ang marining ko mula sayo. Pinaghandaan ko na rin yun, pero gusto kong marinig mismo sayo. Gusto kung marinig kung bakit mo ako iniwan, kung bakit hindi ka bumalik at kung bakit hanggang ngayon hindi mo pa rin ako napapatawad. Kasi hanggang ngayon umaasa pa rin ako! Umaasa pa rin ako sa pagmamahal mo."

"Pero hindi kana masaya diba?"

"Diba sabi ko apart of it is No and apart of is Yes. Ibig sabihin, may parti pa rin sakin na masaya. Yun ay dahil nandito ka, bumalik ka kahit alam kung pansamantala."

Marian look at him intently, her eyes never slipped away.

"At yung pansamantalang yun ay pagkakataon ko para bumawi sayo."

"Pano pag huli na ang lahat. It's been years Gab." Marian said with sadness in her voice.

They have a serious conversation at that very moment without knowing that the rain started to pour down towards them.

"Pano kung...." She bit her lower lip. "Pano kung hingin ko sayo na.." She wanted to tell him everything she feels. But Gabriel didn't let her finish her words when he put his index across her lips. "Sssshhh! I don't want to hear. " He feels her burden and the pain it causes her.

By that time, they feel the water touches her their skin. They look around and see's people running to and fro to find shelter.

"It's raining! Let's go back." Gabriel muttered.

Gabriel held Marian's hand as he drag her and they followed the crowd until they stop by under the waiting shed. They were both wet while the rain continues to pour heavily. Marian feels cold after a while and Gabriel noticed that.

"Feeling cold?" He asked.

"Nah!" She shook her head. "Just a bit. But I'm fine." She replied swiftly.

Gabriel removed his leather jacket and step backward from her. He took his breath and place this on her back to cover her bare skin.

Marian smiled when she feels his hand. Her eyes roaming around. She feels awkward. However, she manage to pat his arm and whisper. "Thank you! But you don't have to do this."
