Chapter 19

"Good morning Mommy." Marian greeted her mother in law when she approached the kitchen. "Hmmm. Ang bango naman." She smells the food from  the bowl. The old woman took a snap at her and back to cooking.

"Good morning din Marian gising kana pala!" She smiled at her and continue to stir the fried rice in the pan. "Mukhang ang sarap po ng niluluto niyo Ma."

"Naku lahat yan mga paborito niyo ni Gabriel at ng mga bata." She replied and transferred the fried rice to the bowl. Marian hold it for her then placed on the table.

"Thank you."

"Take your seat and join me mag breakfast, yung kambal pinatawag ko na Kay Dolores but susunod na daw. Sasabay na sila sa Papa nila mamaya." She told her.

"Ah! Ganoon po ba." She replied thriftily.

"Here!" Handed her the mug. "What do you want? Coffee, tea or juice? You can pick dyan, here are your choices ikaw na bahala."  She told her and left the counter. Marian noticed the separate tall glass filled with yellow color smoothie.

"Is this yours Ma?" She pointed out.

"Ah! No, that's for Gabriel, I prepared some fruit shake kasi I'm sure he has hangover. You want one? I will make you."

"No Mommy thank you. I'll just make coffee na lang. Don't bother I'm okay."She retorted and proceeded in making her own coffee.

"Anyway Ma! What time kayo susunduin ni Dad dito?" She asked her.

"He's on his way na. Me and the Twins are going join him. Will meet Gia in the house so she can join us and also to check if everything is ready for lunch. Sabay na lang kayo ni Gabriel o samin?"

"I don't know about Gab if he can manage to drive, but it's okay with me to join with you and the twins." She told her.

"Okay lang din! But I suggest sumunod na lang kayo ni Gabriel para diretso na kayo Kay Vince. Kayang kaya mag drive nun."

Marian heaves a sigh. "You're not comfortable?"

"A bit I think Ma, Hindi na kasi ako siguro sanay that we're together since then. I mean yung kami lang dalawa."

"I understand." She gave her smile.

"Thanks Ma." She mouthed softly.

"Pero may pakiusap sana ako sayo Marian." Mommy Gina walked towards her.

"Ano po yun Ma?"

"With due respect sa pagkamatay ng anak ninyo. Even just for today, maging isang pamilya sana kayo. For Vince!"

"Ma? What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean Marian. It's just a favor." She held her hand and squeezed it firmly.

Marian withdraw her hand and look away.

"I know Hindi ka pa okay. Pero alang-alang  sa mga anak niyo. You need to try."

"Minsan kailangan mong iset aside ang galit sa puso mo. Just think of everything you've been through. Just think of him."

Marian bit her lower lip and nod at her.  "We had a chance to talk about things last night. Even he's drunk. Nakikita ko na hirap siya. He's struggling for years na hindi ko nakikita sa kanya noon. I love my son Marian and whatever he may have been I promised to be there by his side."

"Naiintindihan ko po Ma that's why I'm sorry. I'm so sorry if until now it hurts."

"Hindi mo pa rin ba kaya?"

"I tried... I really tried Ma but it hurts me more and more while I'm trying. Kasi I know I'm hurting him now. I'm hurting myself for punishing him with my own guilt."
