I ran fast towards the shining lights of the carnival, eyes set on the cotton candy machine. And the smell, oh it was like heaven. Cotton candy, candy apples, kettle corn, and corn dogs!!!

"Happy do you SMELL that FOOD!?!" I cried, asking Happy.

"THEY HAVE A FRIED FISH STAND!!!" The cat replied, his eyes wide.

"Yeesh, you guys, don't you see the rides? Isn't that what were here for?" Gray asked impatiently.

"C'mon Gray! They have snow cones!!!" I said. All of a sudden Gray was sprinting to the snow cone line.

20 minutes later

--------------------

"Wow... I'm full..." I groaned, turning to look a at Gray and Happy.

"Race you to the Ferris wheel, fire brain!" Gray replied.

"You're on..." I wheezed, "brain freeze!" I got up and started to run to the Ferris wheel. We were riding to the top before we knew it. The view was great at the- GACK! My face puffed up and I suddenly felt sick to my stomach. Gray burst out laughing and threw a leftover French fry at me. I reached over trying to punch him but a wave of nausea hit me like a tidal wave.

"Get me... Outta... HERE!" I screeched, turning blue. Meanwhile Gray was no help, laughing his ass off. I was reaching my limit. The Ferris wheel swung down and I chucked fire all over the place!!!

Later that night we were walking home...

"That was the most fun I've had in weeks!" Gray said. I scowled at him.

"Well you didn't have to be pulled from a Ferris wheel by a fire truck!" I yelled.

"I can't believe the people down there called the fire department!" He replied.

"Me neither." Happy said. "They got water on my fish." He sulked. Gray and I looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"Hey! Stop it you guys!" Happy said, starting to laugh himself. We looked at Happy and laughed like idiots all the way to my house.

"See you tomorrow, Gray." Happy said following me into my our house. I absently waved and headed up to bed, who knew 5 hours could pass so quickly?

LUCY*

Lucy's stomach rumbled as she looked over at the dinner her mother brought her. She was starving, she hadn't eaten all day. But she decided from now on she wasn't going to eat any food that her mom gave her.

Deep down she knew it would never make a difference, her parents wouldn't let her out of her room. Which had continuously begun to feel more like a cell. The rock walls, bared windows, stiff bed. What could she possibly do? Either way she wasn't eating that food. Her stomach rumbled again.

"Maybe just one bite?" She whispered... Before she knew it she had gobbled up all of her chicken, vegetables, and her ice cream for dessert.

Damn, Lucy thought, I have no self control!

She looked at her small plastic mirror, and saw a distorted face with gravy and ice cream all over it. She reached for her napkin and wiped her face.

I wonder if it will be this way forever. Lucy thought, will I die in this room? She leaned over, and lay down on her bed, before she knew it she was drifting off to sleep.

The next morning Lucy woke up to the sound of her mother knocking loudly on her door. She'd over slept. She wondered why it even mattered why she had to wake up by 7:00 in the morning anyways. It's not like she had anywhere to go.

"I'm up. I'm up." She said rubbing her eyes.

"Finally, I've been knocking for 15 minutes! Goodness Lucy, when do you go to bed?" Her mother asked as Lucy slid her uneaten dinner from last night through the door. "Why aren't you eating, honey? It's unhealthy not to eat darling. Are you worried about you're looks?

"How could you do this?" Lucy whimpered.

"Darling you really shouldn't mumble-"

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS!" She yelled, "I love you, you're my mom. But how can you just leave me here? Alone? I barely remember what your face looks like, I haven't seen you in so long. How could you?" Lucy could softly hear her mom sobbing, but when she spoke her voice was strong.

"Lucy don't raise you're voice with me. Your father and I have done this for your own good." She sternly replied.

"I- I hate you!" Lucy cried, "I just wish you weren't so calm about this! I'm your daughter!"

"I don't think you deserve your breakfast this morning. Do you? Why don't you sit and think about what you've said." Her mother said, calmly followed by her footsteps.

Something isn't right. Nobody seems the same, Lucy thought, beginning to cry.

"Whoa. Heavy." Said a strange voice behind her. Lucy slowly turned around and was face to face with a pink haired boy. Right outside her window.
