Chapter 20

ERZA*

Erza and the two flying cats ran hand in hand, following the green arrows. This would probably be their only chance to escape, so they had to act quickly.

"My aera is growing weaker. I've been foolish, I used it for too long and my magic power is diminishing." Carla informed.

"I've got you," Happy said. I felt him get heavier in the air, he was carrying Carla. Erza scowled, damn this place, it's so big! She thought. "I'm sure we're almost there." Happy said, trying to reassure us. I could hear the exhaustion in his voice, but it came with a smile. We were in the middle of walking when we smashed right into a metal surface. It wasn't one of the glass walls, it must be an exit.

"Let's just wait here until the lights come back on." I decided, "So that we can open the door without anybody getting hurt."

The Happy and Carla wondered how they could be hurt by an opening door, but decided against arguing with Erza. Erza suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder, and was about to ask them to stop when she suddenly felt stupid and remembered, cats don't have hands.

LUCY* p.o.v.

I was still a little bit shocked from seeing that boy on the screen. He didn't look like he wanted help, he looked scary. I'm sure he was just as messed up as me, if not more. The lights were out for a while and I began to feel weary. I reached over for Natsu's hand and clutched on to it, and he held it back. I smiled quickly, when Natsu's voice rang out from the silence.

"I think we should turn them on now." He said, but, it wasn't coming from where I was holding his hand. I was suddenly paralyzed with fear, and I ripped my hand away from whoever that was, leaning into the real Natsu.

After a moment Levy turned off the fire escape routine, and the lights flickered on. Gray was standing there, a hurt look on his face. But it quickly hardened again and he just walked out the door. Mumbling curse words under his breath. I reached out after him, but he was gone. Natsu gave me a strange glance and then turned away from me. God I'm an idiot, of course it was Gray! Honestly, who else would it have been? I inwardly face palmed at my stupidity. Now his feeling were hurt, it was like I'd led him on and then ripped myself away from him. He cared about me, didn't he? Wait, did he... No. That's not possible.

"Come on." Levy said. "We should go find those kids." I nodded in agreement and we started off after Gray.

GRAY* p.o.v.

I am such an idiot. Why would she hold my hand, she obviously never liked me. Not the way she liked Natsu. That look on her face, like she was disgusted with me. The moment she knew it was me and not him she'd nearly ripped my arm off, trying to pull away. God, I'm so stupid!

I continued walking down the hallways, my whole body rigid. I could feel how tense I was, how tense I probably looked. I could hear the footsteps of everybody else behind me. Though they must've noticed my strange mood, because none of them were talking. I took a quick glance behind me, Lucy was walking closer than I'd thought, but not too close. She was looking down at the floor, looking flustered, as if trying to find something to say.

It's not her fault she's not in love with you.

Oh my god, did I really just think that?

"Gray?" I whipped around at the voice, snapped out of my daze.

"Huh?" I asked stupidly.

"She said turn left back there, idiot." Natsu said, referring to Levy. I was really not in the mood for his crap.

"Say it again, asshat." I shot back, stepping closer to him. I was picking a fight and I knew it.

"I said, you were supposed to turn back there, idiot. And maybe get out of your stupid mood just because Lucy doesn't love you." I could tell he regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth. He'd crossed the line. Before I even knew what I was doing, my fist was flying out and hitting Natsu square in the jaw. Hard. He looked dazed but was still standing. I hit him again, and again. Until the light faded from his eyes and he fell to the ground. I was in shock, despite myself. I could distantly hear somebody screaming my name.

"-ay. -ray. Gray!" Lucy said, slapping me across the face. "What is wrong with you?! We don't have any time for this!" She screeched. She was right, I'm too impulsive. This has to stop. I help get Natsu to his feet, one of his eyes was open. The other was turning a purplish colour, puffy and sealed shut, but his open eye burned with hatred. Man, if looks could kill.

"Let's go." He grumbled. We walked a little while longer, it would've taken less time if Natsu wasn't injured. When Levy finally spoke up.

"Here." She said, pointing to one of the glass doors. "The boy is in there." Natsu moved to punch open the door.

"I can do it." I offered, putting a hand on Natsu's shoulder. He just shrugged me off angrily and wound up his fist.

"Flame lotus: Fire dragons fist!" He yelled, his face contorted with anger. The wall exploded into bits of rubble, a much larger hole than the one from Lucy's room rested in the wall when the dust settled. I guess we at least expected the boy to look shocked, but he didn't. He just sat there with a straight face, his eyes flicked towards us with mild interest. Then he said something none of us expected.

"'Bout time, I guess. And look, you've gotten me all dirty." He slowly rose to his feet and dusted himself off, calmly walking towards us. He stood before us and looked to each of us individually. "I'm Levi."

Ha. Haha. Hahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! I know that was crazy and I can't believe that I just did that but I did and oh my gosh XD (if you don't watch that much anime or understand what I'm doing, it'll be explained more later) for those of you who do get it. I'm sorry, I had to. Heheheh.
