Hijacking Reality

Chapter 2

It was breakfast of silent glares and severe unnecessary conflict among the blue and red paladin; to say that they both sat in total opposite directions in the dining hall was not an exaggeration. Lance even made sure that his chair was facing the wall so he didn't have to catch the slightest glance of the boy with the mullet. Keith on the other hand sat at the table with the part of the team that actually liked him and silently ate his space goo while Shiro went over tactics of how to gather the materials they needed.

"Are Keith and Lance still going to go exploring so we know what is harmful or not on this planet?" Shiro asked Allura while giving Lance's back a small look.

He couldn't comprehend why the other was so stubborn. Nonetheless why it was all towards Keith. Sure, Keith could be selfish at times wanting to do things himself, but he still had good intentions. Something else that had bewildered him was why Keith had initiated the fight, it was usually Lance but he was being tight-lipped, from what Shiro believed to be sleep deprivation like the rest of the crew. Little did Shiro know why both boys had been acting out that morning.

Before Allura could answer Shiro's question, one that everyone at the table was interested to know as well, Lance stood up with his eyebrows knitted and his lips upturned in a smug sneer, "Just because Keith antagonizes me isn't going to stop me from doing a mission. Especially one of exploring. Plus, I would never go against Princess Allura's wishes."

Allura rolled her eyes and mumbled under her breath, "You had a completely opposite opinion when I asked you to join the fight to battle Zarkon."

"Man," Hunk voiced in the conversation to add a little comment like he always had, "That brings back memories when we use to sneak around in the Garrison. Good times."

Lance's expression twisted as he placed his hands onto his hips trying to prove a point, "You always hated it when we did that, 'Lance this isn't a good idea. I don't want to be sent to the Principal's office again. Can we just go back to our room and eat?' Pidge use to sneak out on her own and she's like, half your size."

Hunk opened his mouth ready to retort back but Shiro held up his hand, "Guys can you all be quiet for a second and stop interrupting the princess please."

Allura looked around to notice that it was noiseless and let out a content sigh, "Yes Keith and Lance will still go exploring. Whatever you do, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, touch anything you see. I just want you both to search the area and see what is around. It is better if we are aware of the things that surround the ship. And if there is a suspicious specimen or even traces of Galra activity make sure to call me right away. It is essential."

Keith finally spoke as his soft velvety voice, from barely speaking from this endeavor, "Are we taking the lions?"

"No. Coran and I already surveyed most of the area around us to get a basic layout of the lands," she stood up before walking to the high tech computer pressing a few buttons, "I sent the map to both of your suits so you know when to stop and how to get back to the castle. Also, make sure that you do not breathe any chemicals from the air. They are very deadly to the human lungs."

"Well then let's get this over with sooner rather than later," Keith uttered under his breath while still avoiding Lance's gaze that managed to hold onto Keith like a death grip.

Lance brought up the map in his suit as his helmet was fully on to block out the eerie dense red air that held a resemblance to fog in the distance, "Hmm I say we walk to the right."

"No," Keith quickly answered as he too was examining the map, "There are too many mountains over there and too many plants that we could accidentally touch. We don't have our lions right now and you probably wouldn't be able to last anyway. It takes a lot of upper body strength to scale a mountain."
