I don't like cheating, I hate it actually. And the fact that Sarah kept pushing me to do something that I didn't want to do, hurt. She crossed a line. Maybe I'm overreacting, but I really did not want a bad grade.
After I finished my test, I handed it in immediately. I was not going to let Sarah use me like that.

I was walking through the halls when a voice called out to me.

"Brooke, wait up, I need to talk to you."

There's only one person who can make my hairs stand up straight, Mason.

I sighed, "What do you need me for?"

"We need to set a deadline for our project. We also need to meet up after school, so that we can work on it together."

I looked at him surprised. Who would've thought.
"Since when do you care about school?"

He glared at me, "I've always cared about school."

I scoffed, "Well that's a first."

Mason took a couple of threateningly slow steps towards me, "You don't know me, so don't even try to pretend you do."

"Then enlighten me, isn't that what the project is about?" I taunted him.

"Fine, tonight 6 pm, your house."
With that he walked away and left me standing in the hallway with an open mouth.

~
At 6 pm Mason rang the doorbell. As soon as I opened the door, he walked past me into the living room.

"Come in," I said sarcastically after him. "So where do you want to start?"

"Tell me about yourself."

I scoffed, "Way to be specific."

He sighed, "Fine, do you have a middle name?"

"Yeah, it's Cara, I don't really like it."

He nods and writes my answer down, "How is your relationship with your parents?"

I stiffen up, not expecting him to dig so deep so soon. "It's my turn to ask you a question," I said, changing and avoiding the subject. "Any siblings?"

"Yes, an older brother. His name is Jake, he's in college right now. "

I flinched a bit at his name. I know my Jake isn't Masons brother, because they don't have the same last name.

"Must be nice to have a sibling, I'm an only child. It get pretty lonely here alone."

"Where are your parents?"

"My dad is on a business trip."

He hesitated, "And your mom?"

"To be honest, I have no idea where she is. She left us nine years ago, saying we were too much of a responsibility."
I still vividly remember the day that she left. I miss her, even though she hurt me deeply.

"She must be kicking herself then, for not being here to see her amazing daughter grow up."

"I don't think she gives a shiz."

Mason looked at me with amused eyes, "Shiz?"

"Yeah, I'm trying to curse less."

"Right," he drawled out, "Good luck with that."

I kicked him in the shin. "Ouch, what was that for?" Mason cried out.

"For not believing in me."

He glared at me, obviously not happy with my explanation.

"Any former lovers I need to worry about?" he wiggled his eyebrows at me.

I shot him a proud smile, "Nah, I'm over it."

"Good," he smiled at me.

"Do you think it's easier to forgive or forget?"

"Forgive for sure, I don't really forget things easily," I tried to take a look at what he was writing down, but he hid it from me, "Why can't I see?"

"Because you have to wait until the presentation, also It's fun to see you annoyed."

"Is that also why you keep throwing those horrible lines at me."

He smirked, "Maybe."

I rolled my eyes, "Apple."

He looked at me bewildered.

"It means asshole in my vocabulary."

"You're special, you know that right?"

"Took you long enough to figure that out."
