I was shivering in the cold as Orion and I headed back to the pack house, my teeth chattering comically as I rubbed my arms to generate heat.
My wolf was laying peaceful in my mind, soft purrs escaping her jaws as she relived the run with Orion's wolf.
"Can you stop? I can't concentrate." Orion snapped.
I was tired so I didn't bother objecting, but that didn't stope from being cold, so it was just a vicious cycle of Orion glaring at me until he decided to do something about it.
"Here." He sighed, taking off his shirt.
I watched him as he handed me his grey shirt, his chest now left exposed to the elements.
"Are you-"
"Just take it, Alastrine, for once do what I ask you and just take it." He sighed.
I grabbed the shirt and slipped it over me, my teeth still chattering as we neared the pack house.
In reality, the shirt didn't really make any much of a difference to how cold I was - but it had Orion's scent on it, and that alone was enough to distract me from the weather.
And the weird thing was, I think he knew that.
Dawn was soon poking out from behind the trees by the time I finally spotted the familiar build of the pack house, and with dawn came the calm winds of the early morning, and Orion seemed to relax as my shivering and teeth chattering stopped.
A few wolves were out in animal form patrolling the pack house, and the stopped and nodded when they saw Orion, tilting their necks at an angle.
"As you were." Orion nodded, placing his hand on the lower part of my back and ushering me in through the door.
An unfamiliar sensation spread through me when Orion touched me, and I shivered, stepping away from him as we ascended the stairs.
The wolf inside me stirred at the loss of contact from our mate, the heat affecting her as much as me.
Female werewolves didn't get periods like human girls, instead, as our heat approached we were put into a state of shift - our wolves rose because of the need of our mates and we shift for the whole seven days of the heat, staying in wolf form until it's over.
Usually, mates would mate as wolves when the female was in heat, but unmated females would have to hide from their mates or the males in their packs, or else they'd forcefully be taken.
I drifted out of my thoughts as we arrived in our room, the familiar smells greeting me as a tired yawn escaped my lips.
Taking my place on the sofa, I layed down and immediately buried myself in my duvet, expecting Orion to turn off the lights. So it came as a suprise to me when he stayed where he was and watched me make myself comfortable, not making a move to climb into his bed.
"Aren't you going to sleep? It's early." I said, yawning.
He brushed his hand through his hair and shook his head, grabbing a shirt from his bed and slipping it on.
"I fell behind in pack work because of the dinner and the run, I have to start on it or I'll be even more behind." He answered.
He nodded. "You should get some rest though, I'll send Anya up to wake you in a few hours, goodnight."
With that, he turned and left the room, switching off the light behind him and leaving me in silence.
Closing my eyes, I tried my best to get sleep as the sun began to rise in the sky.
