"Remember, Alastrine, remember what father and I have taught you."
My brother's words of encouragement fueled me as the Alpha spat out blood from his mouth, wiping it with his bare arms and clapping his had together.
"It seems like another wolf wants to challenge me, and from the same family?" He taunted, contorting his body as he shifted.
He snarled at me, his hackles raised as he threw one glance to my father and lunged at me, knocking me down.
My brother howled shouts of protest as I fought to shift under the Alpha, and managed to pry him off long enough to shift - only to have him lunge at me again.
The pain was excruciating as he bit me, his long incisors clamping down on my leg as I bucked and kicked and shook him off. I could feel the adrenaline in my head, the throbbing of the pain, but most of all the anger.
The anger that fueled my hatred, the anger that pressed me on and flowed through my bloodstream and cried out when I roared and growled and snapped my jaws.
And that was the same anger I was feeling now.
It was like a cancer, starting in one part of my body and spreading to everywhere else. Anger coarsed through me the more I thought about it, frustration pulsed through my body as I burst into the dining room.
All chatter stopped as my eyes met Orion's, and a growl so terrifying it scared me rumbled out of my chest.
"You." I growled.
Orion stood up, his chair scraping irritatingly on the floor as Accalia stood up behind him. She threw me a smug look, her hands folding across her chest as Orion strode over to me.
"Alastrine." He said, his eyes narrowing as a warning for me to behave.
I growled at him, all sense of reasoning vanishing from my mind as I spoke. "You've injured my pack member, now I'm going to injure you."
Accalia scoffed behind him, and my eyes snapped towards hers. A surge of power returned to me and, in a turn of events, I felt my wolf return to my body.
Without consent I shifted into fur form, ignoring the searing pain of the shift as I grew in size. Once I had fully changed, I gave a deafening roar, lunging for Orion.
In seconds, Accalia was in front of him, her teeth bared as she grabbed my neck and slammed my wolf onto the floor. I sprang up, my teeth grappling onto her arm and pulling to rip the flesh off.
She howled in pain as I backed away from her, my wolf guilty for causing her pain. Yes, she was a bïtch, but my anger was meant for Orion - not her.
Accalia shifted in seconds, her four paws lifting her up and heading to me as she pounced, her eyes trained on me like a hawk.
We're not here for her, get Orion.
My wolf spoke with an urgency I'd never heard before, her mind leading me to abandon the plan to shed Accalia's blood and run towards Orion instead.
He didn't flinch as I headed towards him, instead he crouched to the ground; baring his teeth as he willed me to stop.
But I was done taking orders from him.
Lifting myself off the ground, my claws caught his collarbone, ripping the suit that he was wearing. Quickly, before I could react, he hooked his arm around my neck and squeezed.
The bustling pack exploded around us, pack members came charging in to see what was going on, whilst some of the men ushered the women and children.
I caught the eyes of Jirou, who gave me an amused smile and nodded, his arms folding across his chest.
I felt Orion put more pressure around my neck and howled in protest, my legs scrambling across the floor for him to stop.
"I knew you'd taken wolfsbane, you think I'm stupid?" He growled in my ear.
"Time and time again you underestimate how far I'll go to break you Alastrine, well I'm about to show you just how far I can go."
In one swift move, he hauled me up and over his back. I growled at him, thrashing against his back as he began walking, but to where, I didn't know.
The whole pack followed as he led me past the trees to the barren side of the forest. For a second, I thought he was going to throw me in the bastille, but he threw me forward and onto the floor.
I scrambled up, but he quickly wrapped silver chains around my flank and around the pole behind me, tightening it so I could barely move.
I growled at him as he stood up and stepped back, admiring his work with a stoic face.
"The punishment for challenging your Alpha and losing is banishment. But I'll give you a choice; twenty five strokes of the whip, or fifty silver cuts."
I growled again, thrashing against the bonds as Jirou, who I hadn't noticed was watching, handed him a silver dagger. It glistened in the light, mocking me as Orion let it run over his fingers.
Quickly it drew blood, and I felt my heart clench in my chest as he lowered himself to my height and pressed the tip of the blade to my arm.
"After this, I'd hope you'll never test me again. Because when I'm done with you, the horror of it won't ever let you go."
