I moved back to the table and sat down, my eyes travelling down to the food, where they stayed for the next few seconds. My legs were bouncing under the table, once or twice brushing against Orion's, and I saw he was trying to refrain from doing something.
"Eat your food, it'll get cold." He snapped.
My wolf objected to complying to this male that hurt us more than once, her small barks of anger causing my thigh to bounce up and down. I breathed in heavily, stopping my claws from shooting out, but that only caused an even worse problem.
I could hardly concentrate as he subconsciously released the scent from his pores, it's aroma pulling me in like the moon and her tide.
"Are you okay there, you look a little strained?" Orion's voice captured my mind just as his scent did, causing my eyes to turn darker as my desire for him increased.
I realised what was happening, the night had slowly pulled in my heat with its coming and going, the Moon was telling my wolf to get on with the process.
My heat was coming soon.
"I'm fine." I said, gritting my teeth.
He went back to eating, occasionally glancing up at me, and then casting his eyes back down. It was annoying how oblivious he was of the fact I wanted him.
My wolf snapped and snarled at my behaviour, her jaws catching my mind in quick stabs of pain. Soon she smelt the scent herself and I squirmed uncomfortably, my wolf pulling me towards the male in front of me. I jerked my hand so much that it knocked over my glass of water, spilling over the front of my dress and alarming Orion.
"What the-" He exclaimed, jumping from his seat.
The water calmed me down, the cold an equivalent to what I'd have had to do if I were at home. I apologised to Oriom, mumbling I'd clean myself up, and carried myself to the women's room.
It was a refreshing feeling to be away from his scent for a while, and it helped that the air conditioning was on full blast.
Walking to the sink, I peered at myself in the mirror, gripping the rim as I did. There was no change to my face - thankfully - except that my eyes were those of my wolf, a sparkling gold.
"What is wrong with you?" I asked myself, brushing my hair back with my hand.
It's that male.
My wolf spat harsh words about Orion in my mind, her low growls clouding my mind with her hate. Yet, I'm sure like me she had mixed feelings about him, in some ways he was good for us, and in others he was bad.
I ran my hand through my hair again to make sure I looked presentable, then walked out of the women's room, almost bumping into Orion in the process.
"Where were you going?" I asked, my voice turning cold again.
Orion pulled his shoulders back as his dark eyes scanned my features. His eyes twitched and I'm sure he caught the faint scent of my heat, but then he spoke and I knew I was safe.
For now.
"I was coming to find you." He replied, his brown eyes watching mine for a reaction.
"You didn't need to, I was coming back." I said.
He turned and began to walk, his back rippling at every step he took. My wolf surveyed the males back with a content purr, her mind spouting the most sinful of things.
I decided I needed to consult Anya, I'd ask her if she knew a female in the pack who supplied herbs to supress my heat.
As a rogue the herbs were everywhere, and if I couldn't find them I'd hide myself from Alistair until my heat was over.
