The wolfsbane kicked in almost immediately, rendering me tired for the most part of the day. I was lying on my sofa reading a book Anya had recommended, my mind empty and void without my wolf.

The door swung open and Orion strode in, his eyes landing on me as he scanned the room.

"Get ready, my Beta's coming back from his trip and all my esteemed pack members are having a dinner to welcome him."

"Clean yourself up, you look-" He suddenly stopped, his nose raising in the air as he inhaled.

Crap.

"Who's going to be there?" I asked, trying to distract him.

He focused his attention back on me, to which I was grateful, and shrugged.
"You'll find out when you get there."

He turned and walked out with the same confidence he went everywhere, closing the door softly behind him.

Anya had taught me a few things about makeup, but I didn't trust myself not to mess it up without her, so I showered and left myself without it.

I had just finished slipping on some black heels I'd borrowed from Anya, when Orion opened the door and came in.

My eyes automatically took in his outfit, and how good he looked in it. With fitted black trousers, starched white collared shirt, black blazer and hair slicked back with gel - he looked dressed to perfection.

He seemed slightly uncomfortable though, his hands fiddling with his cuffs as he spoke. "Do you know how to tie a tie?" He asked.

I raised my eyebrows, lips tilting into a smile as I nodded and made my way over to him, my hands going up to properly tie his tie.

"You look decent, by the way. It would've helped if you'd have put a little make up on though." He commented, stepping away from me when I'd done.

I glanced down at what I was wearing, frowning. I was sure he'd approve of it - not that I needed his approval - but the black dress hugged me in all the right places, and had small jewels lining the middle, it was okay.

Quickly, he glanced down at the watch on his wrist and stuck out his arm, telling me to hook mine through.
Reluctantly I did, and we were off through the hallway and down the grand staircase, turning left and into a part of the house I'd never been in. I could hear excited chatter and the scents and smells of a few people I'd recognised and others I didn't.

Before we stepped in, Orion whispered quietly in my ear. "By the way, Accalia will be in there - try to hold yourself back."

And then he pushed open the door, and stepped in.

The first thing I noticed was the large, mahogany table in the middle of the room, with about ten people sitting around it. There were two seats empty, one at the head of the table and one on the right of it, and Orion briskly led us to them.

The man to Orion's left was the centre of attention, with his almost black eyes and contagious smile.

His stopped talking when Orion and I got to our seats, standing up and embracing him as if they were long lost friends. It was then I saw the corners of Orion's mouth lift up slightly as he pulled away from the man, a smile now full blown on his face. They sat down, Orion slapping his back as he introduced me to him.

"Jirou, this is Alastrine, my female. Alastrine, this is Jirou, my Beta." He said.

I smiled at the Beta - Jirou - as he extended a hand to shake mine. His hand was soft and inviting, unlike Orion's who's was rough and calloused.

"Beautiful, just beautiful." Jirou said, and it was then I took the time to really look at him.

He had short, black hair gelled so it quiffed at the front a bit, his heritage was clearly Asian - he had the same slightly tanned skin and healthy hair as Keiko. He was definitely attractive, his smile was beautiful, one that caused you to smile, and he looked like someone that was outgoing and fun - the total opposite of Orion.

"Orion, the Moon paired you with a beautiful female, you're a luck guy." Jirou said, winking at me.

Orion's gaze landed on me but he said nothing, engaging in a conversation with Jirou about his adventures.

Suddenly, I caught the scent of someone nervous standing behind me, and turned around. It was the Gamma, the one that'd poisoned my pack and I with wolfsbane.

"Gamma Vincent, can I do something for you?" Orion asked.

"Alpha, may I talk to the Alpha Female?" He said, bowing his head.

My lips curled into a snarl, a growl threatening to break through the silence. The other pack members at the table were now silent...waiting to see what would happen.

"Yes, you may." Orion said, immediately turning back to Jirou.

I opened my mouth to object, but Orion shot his gaze back to mine and narrowed his eyes - daring me to say a word. My mouth clamped shut and I rose, following the Gamma out of the room.

"I have no business speaking with you, make it quick." I snapped.

He nodded, rushing his speech so much I didn't catch what he'd said.

"Excuse me?" I repeated.

He sighed, expelling air out of his mouth whilst he shuffled on his feet. I could smell how uncomfortable he was, and I would be too if I'd previously poisoned my superior with wolfsbane.

"I just wanted to say, I apologise for what I did before." He said.

I raised my eyebrows. "Too late now Gamma Vincent, isn't it?" I replied.

He nodded without saying a word and I turned, prepared to walk back in the room, when he grabbed my hand and spun me around.

"What are you-"

"Your friend, that male, he's in the bastille." He said quickly.

My heart sped up and my full attention was on him and what he knew about Alistair. "I've been round the bastille, I didn't catch a scent."

"There's silver all around it, you wouldn't have."

"Well, how do I get to him?" I asked.

"You can't, every second the Alpha's not with you he's there...with Alistair. I can't tell you much, but if there's anything you need - don't hesitate to ask me." He said, smiling.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked.

He shrugged, a smile playing on his face. "I talked to the Oracle, the Moon said I was supposed to help you."

Quickly, he pressed his hand to the door, "You should walk in after me."

I thanked him as he walked in and closed the door, a flurry of emotions overtaking me. I couldn't believe I'd ignored the fact that Alistair was alive, I was angry at myself because I could be rescuing him and bolting it out of here, but instead I was having meals and sipping water.

And if Orion really was doing something to him, then he was no mate of mine.

Blowing out a shaky breath, I re-entered the dining room, catching the Gamma's eyes. He nodded at me and I averted my eyes to Orion, only to find that female, Accalia, sitting in my seat.

-

Okay, I just realised there's quite a bit of diversity in my book so people might get confused - I know I am sometimes.

Alastrine - black.
Anya - Asian ( Indian )
Marcos - black
Keiko - japanese.
Alistair - white.
Orion - white.
Accalia - chinese.
Jirou - japanese.
