*SAM'S P.O.V.*

I danced around my living room while Fall Out Boy play softly in the kitchen. I smiled and ran my fingers over the soft, crème colored couch that lined the wall. I had left my degrading apartment and found a beautiful condo in San Diego, right down the street from the love of my life. The ring on my left ring finger glittered in the soft sunlight that gasped for the last breath of daylight. I had two hours until the gang would be here. I made sure the streamers were lined perfectly and the cake untouched. I delicately walked over the balloons that covered the floor and made my way upstairs to shower. My little black dress hung on my door begging to be worn. I jumped in the shower and let the steam take me away.

I thought of the moments where I was rock bottom. Cold, dark, and alone. I would go to work and come home, thinking of nothing more than when I needed to be up in the morning. Up until that afternoon, I never believed in love. Love is his warm, brown eyes staring into mine. Love is the strong arms wrapped around me. Love is the feeling of his soft lips blending with mine. Love is everything I've never felt before. Love is happiness.

I smiled and ran my fingers through my hair. The hot water ran down my back and I let my mind wander some more. Maybe a little too much..

"Are you sure?"

"I'll never hurt you. Ever."

"Alright... I love you."

My eyes opened quick and I gasped for air. He can't be in my mind right now. This wasn't the time.

"You're all I ever need..."

I covered my face and tried to stop the sobs.

"I love you..."

Those words have haunted me for as long as I could remember. I quickly shut off the water and slipped out of the tub. "Please be 6 o'clock, please be 6 o'clock.." I begged as I ran into my room. I threw on some panties and a bra to match my dress. I dried my hair into it's natural curls with the blow dryer and painted on some eyeliner.

The door bell rang and offered a breath of life.

It's my 31st birthday and I felt better than I ever have. I have the girl of my dreams, I'm writing a new album, and I'm surrounded by those who love me. I chuckled as I threw on my over worn Analog beanie and went out the door.

For some reason Sam is throwing a little birthday party. Or, according to her, a "little" birthday party. My fiancée has a way of overdoing things. I smiled, remembering the day she said yes. Her eyes lit up brighter than I'd ever seen. And that's when I realized I made the right choice. I made my way down the driveway and saw that Mike was already in the car talking on the phone with Val.

"I think the black dress is cute!" He paused before speaking again, "Then why did you buy it!"

I could hear Val mumble something over the phone as I sat in the passengers seat. Mike rolled his eyes and sighed. "Just wear the red one then. Fine, the black one!" He hung up and growled in frustration. "Why are girls so picky about dresses?!" I laughed as we took off to Sam's place.

Matthew, Matthew, Matthew. He was all I could think about. The guy who fucked up my mind. Made me question every step I took. The guy who broke me permanently. I shuffled to the door, my heels in my hands. I looked through the peephole to see Jaime and Brittney standing outside. I pushed Matt away from my mind and threw on an honest smile.

"You're here!" We laughed and shared our hellos. Tigger jumped from Jaime's arms and into mine. "I've missed you my little beast! Come back home." I smiled and kissed her head before placing her upstairs in my room.

Jamie and Britt took their place with their confetti as we waited for Val. Mike got hired to lead Vic into the surprise. I gulped down the doubt that this wouldn't work and embraced Val in my arms. She wore a fitting black dress and red heels. I slipped on mine and we waited.

We pulled into Sam's driveway and walked up. Mike was strangely silent so I knew something was up. But what I walked into was nothing I would have ever thought of. Sam, in all her beauty, stood in the door way smiling with a gift in hand. Jaime, Britt and Val threw confetti all around but all I could see was Sam. Her, my world, my everything, standing here in front of me. I laughed and pulled her into a hug and swung her around. I looked up and saw the streamers, the "Happy Birthday"s and finally, the cake. It was more than I would have ever expected.

"Sam," I whispered, "I love you so much and you mean the world to me."

She smiled and kissed my lips before whispering, "You know my answer. Happy Birthday love." I laughed and led her to the rest of the group.

My birthday today, our wedding next month, and the rest of our lives later. I couldn't be happier than I am now and it's all thanks to the love of my life, Sam.
