Chapter 42

Amie's POV

My main concern wasn't quite the explosion but it was the spirit I was holding in my possession. It was really important that I guarded this with my life. I'm not sure if everything will go back to normal but I'll try to get it back to that state as much as possible.

Holding onto the past was the last thing I should be doing after the look I saw in Kat's eyes. The look of coldness stung my chest and made me want to break down. I should've been there more for her, maybe none of this would have happened to her.

"Leave now or you'll die." A voice said in my ear and I made a swift turn knocking into the twins.

"Watch it sis, we have to catch up with the others," Allen said.

"Didn't you hear the voices?" I snapped.

"We have to get the hell out of here guys this is not good." Aiden said looking ahead and witnessing the huge fire smoke from afar.

"You guys were trapped, we've seen people come here all the time and they end up trapped without a way out. But you, you guys have a chance to leave. What will it be?" The voice whispered.

Katalina's POV

I hated that girl, she kept following me and it felt weird. I didn't know who she was but it was as if she knew who I was and it was unsettling.

Just as we were nearing grove 20 there was a huge explosion.

"What the fuck?" I yelled.

"It's a trap, everyone retreat!!" Nixon yelled.

Causing everyone to run in the opposite direction.

I heard laughing and voices everywhere. I don't know if it was just in my head but I felt like I was going insane.

"Shut up!!" I screamed holding my head, and the whole forest got quiet.

"This was a trap from the start you foolish people, you'll all die here. That little girl left hours ago." The female voice chuckled. "Lucas really played you, people, he was always a clever man." She started laughing and tears were rolling down her eyes.

My body went frigid and I turned to look at this woman.

"I'm telling you all my husband will kill you all." She had a sinister smile and it gave me an uneasy feeling. I didn't give two shits about Lucas I only cared about my daughter and her well being.

The urge to protect her was incredible, I couldn't describe it.

"Motherly instincts kicking in?" The woman questioned making my blood boil even more.

"I had people go past the explosion, and it was an illusion," Nixon said pulling my frigid body away from the woman.

I didn't understand her purpose, she claimed to be the devil's wife, but why was she here making such comments?

I wanted to rip her apart and tear her tiny skull to pieces but I turned away from the bitch.

I continued on to find my daughter because she was all that mattered to me.

Amie's POV

We decided that we weren't pussies and there was going to be a way out of this place but we had to find Leah even if she wasn't my niece. We kept running through the forest and encountered a few more lost souls that were babbling about their lives. Some spoke about what was going on because they were aware of our presence while others were just completely lost.

"We are signing our death" Allen laughed as we ran through the forest.

"Damn straight," Aiden said.

We reached the explosion and the others to see chaos, Kat looked like she saw a ghost and I just wanted her soul to return to her body but of course, there was always a catch and we couldn't take that risk here before it returned to the wrong body.

The closer we got to her the more her soul went out of control.

"Aiden this shit is going crazy," I whisper yelled into his direction and he already knew what I was talking about.

"One of us will have to leave with you out of this place so you can get it to safety then the other will have to stay here and see how things go," Allen concluded.

"I'll go with Amie and you stay here," Aiden said and Allen agreed and continued on into the forest while we went in the direction we first came from.

My mind was on one thing and one thing only and that was protecting this soul and getting it back into my best friend or I may have lost her forever.
