The scream echoed through the halls, followed by a deafening silence. Noah strolled over to the dying man, Trevor, and placed his hand on his head. Smoke curled around his wrist from the open wound on Trevor's chest. Energy ran from Trevor and into Noah's hand. He could hear people scrambling outside the door. He turned and shot a bolt above the door and rocks crumbled down, blocking the path.

Noah then looked around for a way to escape. Finding no other option, he concentrated his energy into one single beam, shooting it straight up with as much intensity as he could. Rocks disintegrated before they could reach Noah. As he cleared a path, he felt his eyes close themselves. Though he expected darkness, he saw light. A city filled with fires, which provided the only light. Bodies lined the streets and he hovered over them all, lightning arcing away from him like he was a giant spider, and electricity jumping from his eye sockets. Then he saw another vision. He lay dead in the streets, people he recognized and people he didn't recognize standing or flying over him.

He forced his eyes open and heard a blast behind him. He turned, the bolt of energy still clearing his path. Eight, maybe nine, people stood outside the door, a hole blasted through so they could see. Noah felt that he was running low on energy. Keeping one hand up to continue his escape, he reached his other hand out towards the people. He concentrated as hard as he could, focusing purely on obtaining some energy. He felt his beam weaken but he also felt a surge. Those standing outside the door collapsed, clasping to keep what Noah was taking. As soon as Noah had enough energy, he flew up, a platform pushing him up the hole and into the sunlight.

Within seconds, Noah was impossible to find.

...

"What" Mark began, seeing the collapsed people in the hallway as he left the masters chambers. "happened?"

"Your...guest...did this..." A man struggled to say from the ground.

"But he's barely trained. He could not have done this." He turned toward his master. "How could you have not known this was going to happen?" He turned back. "What even happened?"

The master was the one to respond this time. "He killed Trevor, the controller of sight."

"But... why didn't you stop it?"

"Because there was no other vision. It was all that could happen. In trying to avoid it, Trevor caused it. If I had tried to stop him, I would only make it worse."

"But you could have warned me. If I had never granted him his abilities, if I had never brought him here, Trevor didn't need to die."

"I could not warn you, because I could not see him. I did not know who he was or what he knew. His knowledge was blocked from me."

"But how could that be possible?"

"I...don't know. Someone has betrayed me. We should be worrying about Noah now though. He has killed more than once now, and he will most likely do it again. We must gather your five recruits. People he knows. He will hesitate in killing them and that is when they will have the chance to stop him. It must be done. If more help is necessary I will know. Go fast, I don't know what will happen next."

Mark looked down at the trained warriors with years of experience, still laying on the ground to recover from Noah's attack. "We're gonna need a lot more than five new recruits."
