Noah rolled himself so he was staring down at Sam. Emma hadn't noticed that she was breathing. She looked down at her with worry and tears blinding her. Noah leaned closer towards her. He felt it. She was breathing. It had worked. He stared down at her, a smile forming on his face. He couldn't explain the happiness he felt as he discovered that he had saved her life. His muscles felt week, his brain was fried, and he had lots of trouble breathing. But he had never felt more alive in his life.
He jumped up and hugged Emma, since she was the only one in the room. He ignored his aching muscles and jumped for joy. He just couldn't explain the overwhelming feeling. Emma looked confused at him, and then down at Sam. She leaned closer and made the same discovery as Noah. Her worry turned to relief and she smiled. Noah was so happy, he had forgotten that they weren't out of the mountain yet.
A root shot out of the roof and pierced his leg. He collapsed, the root keeping him suspended in the air. Will had entered, looking for Wade to see if he had finished the job. What he saw didn't surprise him in the least.
"So." Will began. "Even your best friend? I thought you at least had a little respect for those that used to do EVERYTHING for you."
Noah lifted his head just enough to see Wade's dead body. His gaze quickly moved though, he didn't want to dwell on his best friend's sacrifice. Wade had always put others before himself, and now he was dead. Noah would never forget what he had done for him though. "It wasn't like that..."
"Shut up! You've done to much. It's time for it all to end." Will hadn't noticed Emma sitting near the still unconscious Sam. Emma began to creep into a nearby shadow, but it burst with light and she was left exposed.
"Not again." Steven said as he threw another ball of light to keep the room illuminated. Andrew and Richie appeared behind Will in the room, both looking down at Wade before glaring at Noah.
"Well," Will said. "No quick remark? No jokes? Come on, Noah, we expect some entertainment before we kill you."
"The master... Sam... she was..." blood poured out of Noah's pierced leg. He felt himself rowing even weaker. He lost the ability to move his lips and form words.
"I guess we've finally broken his spirit. It only took everything we had, but we've finally done it." Emma, still fully visible, tried scooting around the room silently towards the door.
Richie was the first to notice. "Oh no you don't...Will!" Roots shot down and caged Emma. They caught fire and Emma had no chance of escape.
Noah closed his eyes in defeat. He knew he had one chance, but it was a long shot. He gathered all the energy inside him and managed to yell one word he had never had to yell before. "HELP!"
Will laughed. "Who do you think is coming for you? Nobody can hear you. Your team is fighting the master's team, your friends over there are a little incapable, and we're not gonna help you. Who is com..."
He didn't finishing his sentence before everything slowed to a crawl around him. He managed a smile as he saw Silus standing next to him. "James heard you. Lucky he did to, you don't seem to be in good shape right now. Let me help you down."
"I can..."
"No, let me help you." He looked at the branch that held Noah's leg in the air. "I got just the thing." He pushed a frozen Andrew over to Noah. "You seem to need a pick me up."
Noah reached out his hand and placed it on Andrew's head. The energy surged through him and Noah caused Andrew to fly away as his body fell in slow motion. He hadn't taken all of Andrew's energy. He didn't want to kill him just yet. He shot at the branch with a bolt of lightning and felt his leg being released. He fell to the ground and collapsed. Pulling the branch out of his leg, he formed an energy cast that helped him stand.
