The master stood in the center of a large stone circle. Three men laid down on beds of stone around him. Josh, controller of nature, Loki, controller of light, and Clark, controller of muscle. They were chosen specially by the master and the controller of sight for the power they seemed to contain. Even before their abilities were bestowed on them they showed great promise. The master planned on granting them their full potential. Allowing them to be as powerful as they could possibly be. They would be the defenders of the controllers. They would seek anyone who opposed the cause and eliminate them. But the master knew that there was something even more special about these three men. A special power inside them. The controller of sight had seen what they would become.
It was silent for a long moment, but the doors had not been closed yet. "Send in Charles!" the master demanded. A recruiter walked in and stood beside the master. "Give them a second mark."
Charles looked up at him, shocked. "B-but master. They already have one. If I..."
"Just do it!" Charles didn't move for a moment, but then walked to each one and placed his hand on their shoulders, seeing the light escape between his fingers and hearing the pained sounds of each man as he received a second mark. To Charles surprise though, none of them screamed in pain or burst from to much power.
The master smiled from his platform in the center of the circle. With a wave of his hand he stole all the memory of this being possible from Charles. The recruiter looked around, confused. "Wha-what happened?"
"You came because you heard them in pain and they were your recruits. You broke protocol, by entering here, but if you leave now and let me finish my work then I will forgive you...this time." Charles rushed out of the room and into the empty corridor. At least, it looked like an empty corridor to him and the master. A girl, no older than 14, stood in the shadows, watching all of this. She took one step back into total darkness as three large people stepped forward and raised the three element wall.
The only sounds coming from the other side of the wall were the screams of the three men.
...
Four years later, those three men stood in the path of Noah. Light poured from Loki who hovered beside Josh. It shot at Noah and surrounded him. Noah shot electricity out but it had nothing to connect with. Finally the light retreated back from him but formed a cage around him. New steel bars ran up Noah's vision wherever he looked. "You think I haven't seen this type of thing before?" He looked through the bars at the three. Josh opened a container on his side and water came out of it, forming a spear in his hands. Clark raised his hands and stairs emerged out of the ground, leading to where Noah stood. "It's just an illusion. Light making me see something. It's NOTHING!"
Noah surrounded his fist in a large energy field and punched at the bars, expecting his fist to go through it or it to move to keep him inside. To his surprise, his fist connected with the bars, bending them badly, but not breaking them. They bent back into place and Noah looked up at Loki. He shook off his shock quickly. "That's a nice little trick you have there. I have a friend that..." He stopped himself. "Look, if you think you can kill me you're going to be disappointed."
Clark had reached him at this point. Right outside his cage, Clark's muscles grew five times the size they already were. "Ok," Noah said, staring at Clark. "That IS a nice trick. But I don't think the incredible dumb-ass over here will be bale to do much." Noah had developed a plan in the short amount of time he had, but he needed to anger this guy. He needed him to get closer at least. Unluckily, it didn't seem to be working.
"You can try your own tricks, but we are much stronger than you. We know what you can do, and we are not taking any chances with you." Josh floated down near Noah's cage, his water spear in his hand. "I must admit though, we expected more of a fight from you."
