Noah was bored until the sun fell out of the sky. He entertained himself by laying down on the hood of the car, poking at Mark, and sneaking some energy from the diner to mess with the customers in funny ways. Emma took a nap in the passenger seat and Mark remained passed out in the back seat. Noah checked to make sure Mark was alive multiple times.
As soon as it was dark Emma was awake, like a vampire rising from it's coffin. Excited, Noah rushed beside the open car door where Emma exited. "So what's the plan?"
"Calm down, I just woke up." She rubbed her eyes and looked around. "If I'm remembering correctly then everyone would hang out at the club most nights. If we're gonna find them, that's where I'd check first."
"Which..."
"Just follow me, and bring the recruiter."
"He has a name!" She didn't care. Emma was already walking away. Noah opened the door and Mark floated out on an energy platform which trailed behind Noah. Running to catch up, he tried to take in his surroundings. The buildings weren't very high, nothing more than four stories. During the daytime it looked like everything was busy but now that night had fallen the streets were dead. The only way you would know you weren't in a ghost town was a few bars with noise and lights coming out of them, and a two story building with a giant neon sign that read Infinity.
"This is it." Emma turned to look at Noah in the light from the moon. "We need to go around and get in through the back. It has a deadbolt on it but I bet you can get through that. The only thing is...its time to take care of your friend there. You'll only have a couple minutes to recruit as many people as you can, then its to late. Don't mess it up. This is our one shot. I'll sneak in and make sure they're in there first. I'll meet you behind the club in ten minutes." With that, she faded into the shadows behind her and was gone.
...
Emma reappeared in a dark bathroom. The bass from the music outside the door was shaking the broken stall door. She walked out into the lights and covered her eyes from the bright neon colors that danced on her body. She didn't like the lights, but she would have to deal with that for now. Blinking to adjust, she made her way through the club, scanning the faces of everyone she passed in hopes of finding her old friends.
Three minutes left and she saw them. They were all in a corner around a table, laughing and joking with each other. She quickened her pace as she pushed her way to them. Raven was the first to see her. She did a double take and shouted her name, raising her arms to give Emma a hug. Her friends all seemed to need to take a second to recognize her but once they did they immediately welcomed her back, asking where she had been and making jokes about her leaving because they weren't good enough for her. They were all laughing, yelling to be heard over the music, when Emma remembered that she had to go get Noah. She tried to yell that she would be right back but the music drowned her out. She did manage to hear her friend David yell "There she goes again, knew I shoulda threw on deodorant before tonight!"
She made it look like she was going towards the dance floor, since she was obviously to young for the bar, and once she was lost in the crowd she went to the dark bathroom and emerged outside behind the club.
Noah was sitting on the ground beside Mark's body when Emma emerged from the shadows. "You're late." Was Noah's first response when he saw her. "Did you find them?" Emma nodded. "Great, so let me just..."
"Wait a second." She thought about it for a second. Was it worth bringing her friends into all this? But then she remembered, they didn't have anyone else they could trust to help. "Ok, go ahead." Noah looked down at Mark, contemplating. "What are you waiting for?"
