We got to main street after nonstop fleeing. For the rest of the
night, which was only about 3 hours, we hid in an alley way. That
wasn't free of issues though, we had seen quite a few homeless men try
to sleep there. Mack had chased them off. Eventually, what I guessed
was around 4 AM, I could finally fall asleep, and I did.
I woke up to gunshots filling the air once again, Jeremy was carrying
me again. Mack was sprinting far ahead of us with my wheelchair, what
was going on? I looked up to Jeremy, he looked so incredibly focused
ahead, but something was wrong."What is happening?" I had to know immediately.
"I'm assuming people in this town are ridiculously afraid of what they
don't understand" He was pretty blatant, we were behind attacked.His head twitched sideways, and Jeremy nearly lost his footing. I was
suddenly ready for impact on the ground, but he kept running, focusing
even more on what lied ahead of him. What was up?
My exhaustion was making everything blurry, but I could see the
moving blinking boxes that were actually police cars behind us. And
the assortment of officers shooting from inside, and outside the cars.
What did we get ourselves into?
Out of the blue, Mack turned her head back at us, nodded, and Jeremy
nodded back before throwing me in the air over to her."What the-?!" Why would they suddenly-
Mack caught me with her tentacles and put my in the wheelchair, and
started pushing me even faster than she was running before. I looked
back, and Jeremy had stopped moving. He was just standing there,
staring at the cops. A few of the cars stopped too, and tried shooting
at him. One bullet flew, and hit him in the arm. Instantly, Jeremy
went nuts. He jumped at the cars, ripping the door clean off and
reached in.
I turned back around. I didn't want to see whatever he was going to
do to those cops. The thought that I slept soundly with my head on the
robot's lap just made me afraid. I had only seen a glimpse at his
crazed face when he demolished the car door. His eyes were wide and
his pupils were small as he looked at the terrified people inside. The
worst part, was that he had a smile on his face.
Screams for help rang out as I listened to multiple cars being ruined
by my friend. I shuddered, despite what Mack had said what he did when
he malfunctioned, I hadn't actually thought about the fact that he
ruthlessly murdered them. I just hope he's simply malfunctioning...
Mack took a sharp turn into an alley, probably thinking there would
be a way through. There wasn't. That deadly mistake got us cornered,
police officers holding guns ready and aimed out our heads, pushing us
as far as we could go into the back."Put your hands up!" The cop in front shouted, I obeyed.
Mack stood still, not following directions. She was going to get us
shot. I elbowed her, and she put both her main hands and her tentacles
up. I was shaking in fear, I'd never gotten into this sort of trouble.
Ever."You're both under arrest" He walked over, face stern, and him and his
men put us in handcuffs, and led us to the cop cars.Where was Jeremy at a time like this?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had been driving for hours in silence. Neither me nor Mack dared
speak in fear of the cop in the passenger seat shooting us. The whole
time, he was facing us with a gun pointed in our direction. I just
looked out the window, hoping we were getting close to wherever we
were going. I knew it wasn't prison, we passed that a while ago. We
were in an area I'd never seen before, not that I got out much. I
noticed not only a car behind us, but we were completely blocked in by
police cars. It was as if they were afraid we would try to escape when
they were driving.
In the distance I could see a huge, white building. What was that? I
lab or something?Mack spoke softly, "I know where we are."
"Where?" I asked, but the shaking cop pointing a gun at us didn't look
very please to see us talking."We're going to die..." Her face scrunched up in sadness and fear, and
she began to cry."Uh- Sir- The alien's crying-" The officer said to his superior. It
became obvious he was new to this.I finally started paying attention to the guy, noticing how young he
was. No wonder he was horrified, he looked not a day over 21. His hair
was dark brown and scruffy, like he hadn't brushed it in his life, and
his eyes were a surprisingly brilliant shade of hazel. On his badge, I
found his name."Christopher...Huh." I couldn't help but think aloud, I always did.
He shifted the gun towards me, "What?"
"Nothing, I just saw your badge-" Oh God, gun pointed.
"Oh...I'm new."
"I noticed" I gave him a gentle smile, so maybe he'd calm down.
The stern and angry face of the other officer moved when he talked,
"Don't socialize with the subjects.""Yes sir" Christopher shut up.
Subjects? What did he mean by subjects? It was clear for Mack, but I
was human. I couldn't be a subject, I was too normal. Maybe they
thought I wasn't...
We pulled into the driveway at the front door of the building, and we
were greeted by a gigantic assortment of police. They led us in, Mack
and I with a personal escort for each of us, mine was pushing my
wheelchair. Again, where was Jeremy? They couldn't have killed him
with guns, and he wouldn't go to jail...
We were thrown into cells next to each other, at least we head that
going to us. I looked over to Mack. She was in a ball crying in the
corner. Bad memories I guess?
Before I could go over and say something, a grey haired man in a lab
coat walked up to our cells with a grin on his face.
