Gajeel's POV
I woke from the dream I was having to a warmth on my chest. I opened my eyes to see the face of Sydney right in front of mine. Sydney had her arms wrapped around my neck. She looked so peaceful with her eyes closed, lips slightly parted, and a slight blush on her cheeks. I started to lean in, about to kiss her, but I froze. I can't steal this from her while she sleeps, what if it's her first kiss? I can't believe Sparky beat me. He's already kissed Lucy and now they hang out a lot so I don't know what happened after they left the park that night. Yes, it's true, I like Sydney. I've been in the same school as her pretty much all of my life and I don't understand why just now I'm starting to see her as more than just a classmate or friend. I want her to be mine, but I don't know if she wants to be mine. What if I tell her my feelings and she just rejects me? Ugghh this is so frustrating! I need to catch up to Sparky! Suddenly Sydney moved a bit and opened her eyes, just to see me staring at her and our noses about touching. I swear I could feel the sweat rolling down my forehead. "Have you been up long?" she asked. "N-No I just woke up," I lied. She nodded and got out of bed. She walked out of my room and shut the door. I let out a big breath and wiped my forehead. Here goes another day of trying to hide my true feelings.
Normal POV
After Sydney left Gajeel's room she grabbed her clothes for school and changed in the bathroom. Her eyes were still gray and lifeless. Gajeel changed in his room and when they were both done, they headed out to the garage. "Hey Gajeel?" Sydney said before Gajeel reached the motorcycle. "Yeah?" he replied. "I think I'm going to walk to school today," she said and Gajeel nodded in understanding. "You going to be okay walking by yourself?" he asked. "Yeah, I will see you at school," Sydney said with a small wave as she walked out the door. Gajeel started up the motorcycle and drove to school.

Sydney ended up making it to school before Gajeel because she took a shortcut. As she was walking to her locker, she was stopped by Natsu. "Hey Syd, I know you probably don't want to see me, but please listen. Mom sort of explained what happened." he said. Sydney flinched a bit then looked him in the eyes, expecting him to say something like 'You should apologize' or 'Mom's right'. "I'm so sorry, Sydney. I should have been there to protect you. Mom's wrong, I have seen how hard you work and how unappreciated your are. I understand if you never want to see me again but please get better. If I have to only be able to see you from a distance, then please let me be able to enjoy that by you being happy." he said and Sydney took a step back, shocked. When she stepped back she ran into something hard. That something hard turned out to be Gajeel's chest. He wrapped his arms around Sydney and rested his chin on her head. "He's right, Syd. I like you better happy so please, cheer up," He said with a serious expression on his face. Then he smirked, ruffled her hair, and walked away.
Sydney turned to look at Natsu again only to see him holding her favorite stuffed dragon out to her. "I know that were not related and never were, but please, let me still be your brother. We had such a fun life together as siblings, and I don't want this to ruin it. So, what do ya think? Wanna be my sister again?" he said with his signature grin. Sydney nodded and accepted the stuffed dragon that Natsu was holding. She squeezed it against her and tears started forming in her eyes. Natsu held his arms out and Sydney ran into his embrace. Sydney cried onto Natsu's shoulder as he held her head hith his hand. "I love you, Big Brother," she mumbled. "Love you too, Little Sis," he replied. They broke the hug and headed off towards class.
Emma's POV
I've been really concerned about Sydney lately. I understand why she is feeling the way she is, but I don't know how to help her. I just want her to go back to normal but I don't want to push her because it might break her even more. She's so fragile right now. Plus I can't really get near her. Gajeel is protecting her so I leave this in his hands. I trust Gajeel, but if he does anything to ruin that trust, HE WILL DIE. But he has my trust for now.
As I walked into class, I saw Sydney sitting alone with her head down. Gajeel was in the corner, eating some iron scraps. Lucy was standing by Laxus and they were talking *insert wiggly eyebrows*. Lucy saw me and waved. "Hey Emma!" she said and I waved back. When she said my name, I saw Sydney look up at me. She had blue eyes! I froze. "Hey, Emma," her quiet voice said. Tears started coming to my eyes as I jumped into her arms and gave her a giant freaking bear hug. As I let go, she gave me that wide-toothed grin that she would always give. "How are you?" I asked. "I'm pretty good right now. I have accepted that I'm adopted but I have my brother back. We may not be siblings by blood, but were siblings at heart. Plus I got a good night's sleep." she said but after the last part, her face turned red. I looked over at Gajeel and his face was a bit red too. Could this be a clue or just a coincidence? Hmm. "Hey Sydney, is it alright if we go shopping or something after school? I want to talk to you, alone," I said and she nodded. Gildarts walked in and I ran to my seat to sit down. "Is everyone here?" he asked. Someone said yes so Gildarts nodded and walked to his seat. He plopped down on his chair, took out a bottle of booze, and chugged it till he fell asleep. I got up and walked over to where Natsu was sitting. He had his back to me so I put my hand on his shoulder. "Hey Natsu, thanks for helping to get Sydney back to normal. Maybe your not so dumb after all," I said with a slight smile. He turned around. His mouth was stuffed full with food and he was in the process of pouring tabasco sauce all over the food in his mouth. "Forget what I just said," I said and walked away. I walked up to Gajeel's desk and he was staring at the wall while eating his iron scraps. I bowed at the waist. "Thank you Gajeel, for helping Sydney," I said. I felt him place a hand on my head. "Get up, kid, there ain't no reason to be thanking me," he said. "Yes, there is. You were there for her when the rest of us couldn't be. She looked up to you for guidance and comfort. Without you, she would have been way worse that she was. That is what I thank you for." I said and walked away before he could say anything else.

Sydney's POV
The bell just rang for school to be over. As kids were rushing out the door, I walked over to Gajeel's desk. "Hey Gaj, I'm gonna go shopping with Emma for a bit. See you at home, okay?" I said. He grunted in reply. I walked out to my locker and grabbed my stuff. Then I met Emma at the front gates of the school and we set off to go shopping or whatever else we would do.

Natsu: Why do I have to do it? I have other stuff to do.
Me: Because I said so, and like what? Eating?
Natsu: Yes in fact I do have to eat. You don't want me to die of starvation do you?
Me: I could honestly care less if you die. Just do the danm disclaimer.
Natsu: No.
Me: NATSU DRAGNEEL UNLESS YOU DO THE DISCLAIMER RIGHT NOW, I WILL THROW ERZA'S ENTIRE CAKE OUT THE WINDOW AND TELL HER THAT YOU ATE IT ALL!
Natsu: Thunderwolf8939 doesn't own Fairy Tail or any of the characters. Hiro Mashima does! *scampers away*
