February 5th rolled around quick for the small group, and it was the day all their minds were on Bonnie. It was her birthday, and even after all their efforts, she still wasn't home to celebrate with them. She still stuck in the prison world, while everyone got to live their lives everyday, not stuck on constant loop. It made you realize how much people take for granted. A pile of books in her arms, Amelia made her way through into the kitchen of the boarding house, in search of a quiet place to read.
She was determined to make finding Candice her top priority, now that Kai was apparently gone. That night at the hospital, when snapped Amelia's and Damon's neck and took Jo, it wasn't her that he ended up merging with. It was Luke, and as far as everyone knew, he was now off to Portland to get revenge on his family.
"Hey." Damon smiled, stood leaning against the counter.
She looked up in surprise, smiling back as she placed her books down on the table. "He- Ooh, cupcakes." She grinned, spotting the tower of cupcakes beside him. Walking over, she eyed the cupcakes carefully, glancing at Damon. "You think we could sneak one before the party?"
"I think Caroline might fry us in the sun." He said after a moment consideration.
With a small shrug, she grabbed one that was covered in chocolate frosting, peeling back the case from it. "Worth the risk." She muttered, before biting into it, letting out a small moan. "Mm, this is so good."
The Salvatore chuckled, using his thumb to wipe the dabs of frosting she had around her mouth. "I've heard you say that about many things." He added, jumping back with a cheeky grin as she swatted at him, her cheeks heating up. "Hey, be nice to guy who let you sneak a cupcake."
"When he gets his mind out of the gutter, maybe." She compromised, rolling her eyes slightly. She then turned to look at the table, where books remained stood, waiting for her to start reading them. "Fancy spending the night reading through books with me? They aren't Ric's this time, no one will get mad if you drool on them." She offered with a hopeful smile.
Grabbing her by the waist, he pulled her closer to him, and she smiled a small smile as she wrapped her arms around him. "How about you leave research for the day, and we spend the day celebrating Bonnie's birthday, and doing anything else that sounds more fun then research."
Rolling her eyes, she shot him a look. "Da-"
But, he pressed his finger against her lips, cutting her off before her scolding could begin. "Amelia, I just want one day. One day were everything is okay, we can spend together, then you can go back to searching for Candice. Please."
With a heavy sigh, she slowly pressed her lips against his, running a hand through his hair without second thought. "Okay." She started, kissing him again. "You." Another kiss. "Win." She gave another kiss, making his grin grow wider.
"Perfect." He said, this time kissing her himself.
Their moment was interrupted, at the sound of the front door closing, and a voice calling throughout the large house. "Hello?" Amelia's body went ridged, her face growing instantly angry as Damon groaned. "Hello?"
Pulling away, the Evans girl shook her head in complete denial. "No. That's impossible because why would he-"
"He didn't." The Salvatore cut her off, his own face growing an annoyed expression. "He's all merged, he's packed, and is on his way to Portland!" The last part came out in yell, hoping the intruder would take a hint.
Sadly, the kitchen door still opened, and Kai appeared with an amused look. "Ooh!" He said at the sight of the couple. "I forgot how massive this house was." His eyes then fell on the cupcake tower, grinning. "Yum! Cupcakes!"
