Part 13: Hidden Story

//Mikey's POV\\
(It's the weekend)
I see a missed call from Kayla.
Something I didn't mention about when I went to visit the hospital everyday was one of the days I saw Kayla's mom. She was notified somehow that she was in the hospital. She was telling me about how she was clean now after going to rehab center. She said she has a new husband and he has a son named Harrison. She said they live in Connecticut. I just don't know how to tell her or at the hospital to her dad or brother.

//Kayla's POV\\
I wake up to the sun shining through my curtains. I check my phone to see if Mikey responded. No reply. I wish I knew why he wasn't responding. I go on Instagram and see Mikey is liking pictures- he must be awake. I decide I'll try and go to knock on his door since he isn't finding the importance to answer me. (Lol the sass)
I get up- take a shower- brush my teeth & hair- put some makeup on- then I pick out my outfit. It consists of high waisted dark shorts & a pink cropped shirt with white adidas.
I go down the stairs and eat a banana real quick before going over. I see my brother walk down the stairs.
"Good morning Kayla- how ya feeling?" He says
"Good morninggg- I'm actually feeling better good today. I'm gonna head over to Mikey's to talk to him." I say.
"Okay- text me if you need anything." He says.
I walk over to the front door and walk outside to see Mikey sitting on the bench in his porch. I walk over to him. He notices me standing there.
"Hey Mikey."
"Hey- how are you feeling?" He says.
He seems different today..
"I'm feeling better. How are you doing?"
"I'm good..." there is a moment of silence.
"Listen Kayla. I saw your voicemail last night- I wanted to talk to you. But I didn't know how to tell you- that your mom stopped by the hospital while I was there and she told me some stuff." He says as I began to start shaking. My mom scares me so much. She use to abuse my dad, my brother & me all the time. I can't believe she would come to have the audacity to come see me after all she has done to this family.
"Are you okay Kayla?" He says as begins to hug me.
I start to tear up. "What did she say?
"She was telling me about how she got remarried. And her husband has a son. She also lives in Connecticut. She also went a rehab center."
Tears roll down my eyes. I don't know how to feel. I just hug mikey and he rubs my back.

//Mikey's POV\\

I can't tell if it was a good idea to tell her this. at least now she knows. I rub her back.
A couple minutes pass and she is still sobbing.
"Kayla- are you okay? You haven't said anything."
Another couple of minutes go by.
"I don't know what to think- did she really seem okay?" She says softly.
"Yeah she seemed to be really doing well." I say.
She begins to lift her head and she looks at me and she rests her head on my shoulder.
"Thank you for telling me Mikey. I think I better tell my dad & brother about this." She is still sniffling from crying.
"Anything for you baby girl" I say.
She lifts her head off my shoulder and she gets up off the bench.
"Do you wanna come over to my house later?" she says.
"Yeah babe whatever time you want me to come over"
"I love you Mikey."
" i love you too Kayla."
And I watch her walk back to her house.
