Dean had noticed that Cas had barely slept, although neither had he. He turns over at the sound of his alarm at seven. He groans, and looks down at Cas who looks back at him and asks the already answered question.
"How'd you sleep?" Dean only groans.
"Same as you." Cas smiles a little. They both seem to click that today was their first day at Yale. Cas sits up to allow Dean to get up, as he'd been lying on him. Dean looks at the boxes around the room, some of which he'd gradually packed throughout the summer, while some had been brought over by Anna so Cas didn't have to see Lucifer. Although that had changed now. His whole family probably knew, and had probably spread it halfway around the population of New York by now. Dean notices the look in Cas' face and walks toward him, and seems to know what he's thinking.
"Not everyone is gonna judge as hard as Lucifer did." Cas looks at him, and Dean's green eyes seem to take control of him.
"You're right. Even if they don't like it, I've got you. Right?" Dean looks at him and smiles. Dean wraps his arms around Cas who does the same.
"Of course you do. You'll always have me." Cas breaks out of the hug and kisses Dean's lips.
"Okay. Let's get these boxes out." They take a box each and take them out to the truck in the garage. It takes a while to fill up the truck and when they do they pile in. Sam riding shotgun, so he can give them a proper goodbye, John driving, and Dean, Cas and Charlie in the back seat.
They reach the college and its beauty and majesty hasn't changed. They took in the beautiful brick work as if it was the first time they'd been there. Charlie gets out of the car first, and is met with the tanned guy from when they came to visit. She rolls her eyes and tries to get back in the car.
"Hey! I remember you!"
"And I remember you." Her reply is almost pained as she avoids his eyes. Dean, Cas and Sam stay in the car trying not to laugh. The guy leans over and looks in the window.
"And you guys! Hi! You remember me right?" Cas and Dean decide that to shut him up they might have to get out of the car. They do, leaving John and Sam smirking.
"Follow me and we'll find your rooms." They leave John and Sam while they go to find their rooms, saying that they will return for their stuff once they've done so. They are led to a striking woman about 20 years old. She is about the same height as Charlie, but her six inch heels cause her to almost rival Cas' six foot figure. Her long blonde hair is scooped over one shoulder and her tight skirt emphasises the beauty of her legs.
"Hi. I'm Morgan. What're your names?"
They go to Charlie's dorm first which is on the opposite side of the courtyard to the boys, it's on the ground floor and already has boxes on the floor. "You'll be sharing with my sister. She's called Chrissy. She's lovely." The boxes sit in the centre of the room, and when Charlie goes into the living area, it's also full of boxes. And three other rooms.
"I think everyone else is coming tomorrow, because that's the first official day so you'll have a lot of time to get settled.
They then go to the boys' dorm and find that Cas and Dean are sharing a room.
"That makes a change," is Dean's sarcastic reaction.
All five of them drag the boxes to the right rooms, and they help Cas and Dean unpack, Charlie decides to wait for her roommate so they can decide on who gets what bed. They say their emotional goodbyes, Dean clinging on to Sam for a full five minutes. He looks him in the face,
"Every other weekend, and the breaks I'm gonna come see you. And the weekends I don't come, you can come here okay." Sam nods with tears in his eyes.
It's late evening before Dean actually lets them leave, desperate for Sam to stay a bit longer. After they bid their emotional farewells, Charlie goes to see if her roommate has appeared, the others in their dorm are due to come the following day. They go back into their room and shut the door. Cas walks up to Dean.
Dean places his hands on Cas' hip timidly, still thinking about Sam. Cas notices the fact that he is distracted, and puts his other hand under Dean's chin and lifts his head, so dean is looking in his eyes. A tear rolls down Dean's cheek. Cas doesn't say anything except a "sshh" Dean talks, barely keeping it together.
"I just don't want to leave Sammy. I'm not saying I don't want to stay, but." He sighs, and begins to cry more noticeably now. "I feel as though, he knows me so well. Like, he can tell, if I don't like something just by the way he looks at me." He sniffs, and goes to sit on his bed. Cas goes over to join him, and puts an arm around him. "I just feel like, I'm leaving him. And I'm not. I'm not looking after him like I should be."
"Dean." Cas' voice is hoarse and Cas is clearly put off with seeing Dean in such a way. But still, he tries. "Sam will be fine. You'll see him on a regular basis and he'll be just fine. Okay?" Dean nods, but continues to cry, heavier than before now. Although now, Cas seems to have made a transition from uncomfortable friend, to comforting boyfriend. Dean is sobbing now, and Cas wraps his strong arm around him in a more sturdy way and pulls Dean toward him. Dean burrows his head in Cas' jacket and cries on him, while Cas strokes his head, shushing him, until he falls asleep.
