Dean never went back to Yale. Instead he got a job, at the law firm Sam owns. And after eight years, Jess and Sam were still a happy couple. They have a one year old daughter now. Called Robyn, their wedding is two weeks away, Cas had been invited but he wasn't going to show up. Dean never had another relationship, but Charlie and Jo patched things up, they're also engaged. Their wedding isn't for two years yet. They moved to Lawrence in Kansas two years after the accident. They never heard from Cas again. Today was the day before Sam's wedding, Dean is completing his packing. They are getting married in Palm Springs, everyone else is already there, apart from Dean who is taking Robyn today. The intention is to stay in a hotel. Dean obviously babysitting to leave the happy couple with a few free nights until after their wedding night. After he finishes packing he throws his case in the truck, he then positions Robyn's seat, and locks up the house.
When Dean got his own house, Charlie was still single, so they shared the house, and when Jo became a prominent figure in Charlie's life, then she moved in.
Dean drives just under the limit after Robyn falls asleep, just to avoid waking her. When he gets to the hotel a tall boy in his late teens approaches and holds his hand out. Dean assumes for the keys and hands them over, he gets Robyn out, and the boy calls a couple of others over to help with the bags, Dean watches Robyn fall back asleep in his arms and starts to go and check in. "You're a boring kid."
"What's the booking name." The receptionist is around 30 and wears a thick layer of purple lipstick.
"Erm, Winchester. Dean."
"Oh you're with the wedding party? Okay." She hands him a key with the number 143 on it. "That's the third floor." Dean nods.

The room is luxurious, with little chocolates on the pillows and a majestic clock in the corner, 6pm. The dark red walls only adds to the majesty of the room. Robyn starts grizzling.
"Ok. Let's go and take a look for your dad." Dean picks her up from the crib he'd laid her in, and leaves, locking the door behind him. They find Sam and Jess in the bar, and signals to them, taking Robyn to the bar would probably be stupid. They gather their things and move to a table nearer to the door. Dean hands Robyn to Sam who starts to play with her.
"She's been fine for the whole journey."
"And are you sure you don't mind having her tonight and tomorrow night?"
"Jess. It's absolutely cool. Don't worry." Jess nods and leans over, kissing Sam then Robyn.
Sam is the next to talk. "So, you think Cas is gonna show?" Dean flinches at the name but shakes his head,
"I doubt it."
"Have you asked?"
"Sam, I don't need to. He's none of my business." Sam nods and leaves the conversation there. "You got a song to walk down the aisle to yet?"
"Er yeah. 'Total Eclipse of the Heart,'" Dean looks, raising his eyebrows, surprised at their song choice.
"Good one. And first dance."
"Erm. Dean, I'm sorry, I forgot."
"What,"
"The song we chose, I forgot what it was to you."
"What song?"
"Chasing Cars." Dean looks around and remembers the party all that time ago, the way that he lay on the artificial grass to try and dismiss the fact that the alcohol had had a bad effect on him. He remembered Cas joining him, and them quietly singing along. Sam's voice snaps him out of his trance.
"Dude." Dean looks up quickly with a gasp,
"What?"
"Are you listening. I said, if that song'll be too awkward, we can change."
"No no it's fine. That's a great song."

Sam and Jess planned to get drunk but didn't want to say anything, as they knew that Dean would have to take Robyn upstairs. They'd had a meal, and the time was getting close to nine anyway.

He lays her down as soon as they get into the room and she falls into a sleep straight away. "Woah. Babies are boring." Dean says under his breath. He throws the chocolate from the pillow into his mouth and lies on top of the bed covers, and sighs. He looks at his phone, contemplating whether to call Cas. After a five minute decision he picks the phone up, and calls Cas' number. He doesn't know whether he is thankful or full of dread when it rings, he puts it to his ear, and hears Cas' voice.
"Hello." Dean hangs up the phone. Cas doesn't have his number, so he should be safe.
"Stupid!" Dean shouts at himself. He throws the phone across the room and it smashes against the wall, into pieces, alerting Robyn and inducing a scream, that likely woke up the whole hotel. After Dean had got her to sleep he climbed into bed and started to fall asleep. At least, until his phone rings, he grunts in annoyance and rolls over to pick it up. It's an unknown number calling, and he thinks that it could he Cas, as he never actually saved to number, just had it in his call log from years ago. He answers it and puts it to his ear but he doesn't speak. The voice on the other side of the phone does though, "Dean?" Dean breathes heavily but doesn't answer Cas, instead he just listens to Cas' anticipant breathing. Cas is still on the other end when Dean hangs up.

Dean gets four more calls from Cas that night, and chooses to ignore all of them. To avoid awkwardness, he came to the conclusion that Cas was drunk dialling him for a dare or something, that was the only reason he could think for Cas wanting to talk. When he decides to check the voicemails, the only one simply says, "Dean. I'm sorry." Tears start to flood Dean's eyes as he tries to go to sleep.
