Clattering sounds from the living area wake them both up at about three am. They both jump at the same time,  Cas' hand still on Dean's head as he lifts it up and looks at the door. "Did we lock it?" His voice is husky, from the crying, at Sam's departure.
"Yeah, just after they all left, someone must have a key."
"Why are they turning up at three in the morning?" Cas shrugs and gets up, Dean rubs his red eyes, Cas opens the door. A tall boy stands there, he has a large build and a beard. He grins.
"I'm sorry for making all this noise," He has an English accent, and a deep voice. "My mother, she's a bit of an idiot, thought it would take four hours longer than it did." He has a sense of mystery about him, Dean joins Cas at the door and the stranger looks them up and down. "I'm Fergus by the way." Dean frowns at the strange name. "Scottish. I hate the name. My friends, or should I say lackeys, or disciples call me Crowley. Or they would if I had any. I'm here." He nods to the door next to Cas and Dean's. The boys look at him, unsure what to make. Cas is the first to speak.
"Well, I'm Cas, this is Dean." Dean nods as Cas says his name. Crowley comes forward and shakes their hands a smile at the corner of his mouth.
"Do you want us to help?" Dean's voice is timid.
"Nah I'm alright. So, how do you two know each other. I'm assuming you do, or you wouldn't be sharing when there are empty rooms." Cas looks at Dean almost as if he's asking his permission, Dean nods to let him know he doesn't care who knows. Crowley sees the exchange and works it out before he can be officially told.
"Oh, you're a couple. Cute." They smile at his surprising politeness and leave him to sort his stuff out.

They don't go back to sleep instead they push the beds together lock their door and lie close to each other. Dean on top of Cas, who has his arm around Dean, Dean with his arms around Cas' waist and Cas using his spare hand to stroke. Dean's head.
"Are you okay now?" Cas asks Dean, referring to the meltdown from before. Dean nods against Cas' chest.
"Yeah, I just missed him. We've never really been apart. And I know I'll see him at the weekend, but five days, is a long time, when you've never been away from someone. Sorry for putting that on you." Cas sighs.
"Dean you don't need to apologise for anything okay?" Dean nods, and their heart to heart is interrupted by Dean's phone ringing. It's Charlie.
"Its three thirty in the morning." Dean picks the phone up and answers it.
"Dean?"
"Charlie, its three thir..."
"I know."
"Well?"
"My roommate. I think I like her." Dean puts the phone on speaker so Cas can hear.
"You and Jo definitely ain't gonna happen then?"
"Nah that was a summer thing."
"What's your roommate called?" Cas interjects.
"Meg. Meg masters." Dean raises his eyebrows.
"Cool name."
"She's really cool, and my gaydar was goin crazy. She definitely bats for my team. Unlike Jo."
"Wait, what?"
"Did I not tell you? Jo was straight the whole time. I was an 'experiment' apparently. I confirmed that she IS NOT into girls. But, the gaydar is right this time I swear. This girl is definitely gay."
"Okay. Well, speak to her."
"Okay!"
"Charlie wait!"
"What."
"Just, wait until the morning."
"Ah okay. Thanks guys." They hang up. Dean lies back down on Cas who embraces him once more.

Dean must've been dreaming because when Cas wakes first, Dean is sprawled out and sweating like crazy. Cas reaches over and puts his hand on Dean's back. Dean jumps awake gasping,
"Shhh," Cas is gentle and clearly sees Dean's discomfort. It takes a while for Dean to register what's going on but when he does he calms down. "Classes start today. What do you have?"
"Computing."
"Hey me too."
"All these coincidences are screwing with me." Dean replies with a laugh.
They get dressed and put a couple of slices of bread in the old toaster, and gather up folders and textbooks.
"We start in 10 and then we've got the whole day to kill." Cas points out.
"Cool. We can explore New Haven?" Cas agrees.

The lecture hall is full and has been stuffy for around the last half an hour of the lecture. Dean's phone rings, it's John. Dean looks at his watch. They only have 10 minutes left, no one will notice if he sneaks out to take the call. Cas sits across the room as he was employed to help a girl figure out some coding. Dean signals and points to the door to let him know he's leaving. Cas nods and continues.

John's tone is worried,
"Dean?"
"Yeah dad?"
"You need to come home now."
"Why, is everything okay." Dean was also beginning to feel worried.
"Not really."
"What?"
"Sam and Bobby," he chokes on his words.
"Dad. What?"
"They were coming up to surprise you. They barely got out of town."
"Dad!" Dean's worry now causing him to shout. "What has happened?!"
"They were,"
"What?"
"Shot. They were driving and some kid took a shot at them."
"What?! Are you serious??!"
"You really think I'd joke? I spoke to the Dean, he said it's cool for you to miss some time, after I told him the circumstances. He's let Cas and Charlie off too. They don't have to come, but, they can if they want."
"Okay, I'll get them. Dad?" Dean's voice is quieter now, almost a whisper. "What are they like?" John sighs, clearly struggling to answer.
"They said Bobby's probably gonna be fine, but Sam," John and Dean are both crying now. John chokes on a sob. "He's, uh, in a coma."
"No!" Dean almost screams the reply,
"They don't have much hope."
"No! He's gonna live, I'm not letting my brother die. I told him I'd take care of him, as he's not gonna die. Not on my watch."
