Dean's PoV
"Get outta my way Loosechester!" A large boy called, pushing Sam Winchester into the lockers hard, Sam starts to walk in the opposite direction but the boy grabs him and threw him to the floor. Sam tries to ignore people like this, but he couldn't this time. He stands up, looks the boy in the face and knees him, hard in the stomach causing him to collapse to the floor. There is a shout and the face of Dean Winchester joins the crowd and seeing the bruise on Sam's face, he turns to the kid.
"You're probably new here." He pulls the kid up by the collar as he says it. "You know how I know?" He doesn't let the kid answer, "because, this here is Sam. He's my brother. He may look scrawny, but he ain't. Do you think a scrawny kid could do that? Make you collapse in pain I mean?" The kid says nothing. Dean sniggers, and grabs his collar. The kid looks at Dean. "I'm sorry okay?"
"Okay," Dean replies. He loosens his grip on the kid who tries to swing a punch. He lands it, causing an outbreak of laughter, at Dean's failure, "okay," Dean says, struggling to grab back onto him but he succeeds. "You made me angry. Are you completely dumb, or just a little?" The kid says nothing. Dean swings him round so he hits the locker so hard it winds him. As the kid falls to the floor, Dean starts kicking him hard in the ribs. He keeps going until the football coach pulls him off and shouts at him. "Go see the Principal now." He pushes Dean to get him moving. Dean looks behind at the kid on the floor, "This. This isn't over."
"Keep moving," the coach shouts pushing Dean again. The corridor goes silent as Dean is led away. The kid gets up and stares at Sam, who stares back. The kid drops the gaze and walks away.
The principal's office, is painted a dark green and has next to no furniture, Dean is familiar with being inside it and doesn't need to be encouraged to sit down. "You're back Dean." The principal has a deep but unthreatening voice. "Oh yeah. So I am. I forgot what your office looked like." He doesn't drop his gaze from the Principal's face. "You know Dean. Yale wouldn't like this attitude. You need to stop."
"That's a fair point you make, Sir. But at Yale there aren't any dumbass hockey players, who think they're tough enough to beat up someone smaller than them."
"Dean. I like you." He gets up, walks round the desk and puts his hand on Dean's shoulder. "You graduate tomorrow. Can you go that long without leaving someone beat up?" Dean nods reluctantly. "Then you can go. See you Dean."
It should only take Dean ten minutes to get home, but he always goes the long way. Today however, he does go straight home, and watches each minute pass until graduation. One of his friends, Gabriel is having a big party for his younger brother and sister. His sister is called Anna, her and Dean used the date. She would be joining Dean at Yale. Virtually the whole Novak family went to Yale or are still there. Everyone except Gabriel, who went to Harvard in way of rebellion. Tomorrow was to be the first day in which Dean had been in the Novak house at the same time as the whole family. Apparently the eldest brother was thrown out after a disagreement with their father. Dean fell asleep wondering just how many Novaks he was yet to meet.
"Dean! Get your ass out of bed!" Dean stirred, and then opened his eyes.
"What?" He murmured.
"It's 8:15. Get up."
"But Dad." Dean whined. "It's graduation."
John's laugh is heard. "Okay. You still have to get up. Your mom has taken Sam and Bobby is coming to take me and you." There is a pause. "Apparently I've been volunteered to help with stuff."
"Like what?"
"Well there's the cake sale, the games, and the yearbook signing stall."
Dean lets out a growl and John hits him on the leg.
"Move."
They manage to reach school at just after 9. John and Bobby part ways from Dean at the door to set up for the events. "Wiener!" The shout comes from a feminine source and causes Dean to grin. He turns around. "Hey Charlie. How's things?" Dean and Charlie had been best friends for as long as anyone could remember, and they seemed to be each other's only friends. "Ok. Oh, by the way, Ellen has got a lot. And I mean, a lot, of alcohol. So, we might get laid."
"Awesome. Just as long as we don't chase after the same girl."
"Aw Dean. That's not gonna happen. You know why? I have standards." Dean let's out a sarcastic laugh.
The hours up to graduation seem to drag on, and it wasn't until the boredom had reached such a level, that meant someone finding a bunch of old sponges in a cupboard and starting a sponge fight, that the Principals voice came over the tannoy, ordering everyone to the auditorium. They take their seats and look at all the large amount of kids in blue robes. Dean groans as he realises just how much of his day this was going to take up.
He has almost fallen asleep by the time his name is finally called, he just wants to get it over with. Before it was Dean's turn everyone had been getting bored, but they all perked, surprised he had actually managed to graduate.
