Nadir's raven heard them first. It cawed loudly, attracting the attention of all the villains in the room, sleeping or not. Nadir whispered something to the raven. It was the first thing he'd said all night. The colour in his face drained, and he groaned.
"They're coming. All of them."
The weird telepathic creep, Kirai, spun her head and stared at him, I saw his eyes glaze over for a moment, she was probably interrogating him about the exact location of the incoming army.
Exclamations of surprise, outrage and dread emanated the room.
The flutter of wings from the enemy's pegasi told us they were here. Nadir stumbled over to us.
"We should go." His idea of fleeing was quickly shut down by Reyna, however, suddenly a whirl, exactly identical to the hard vicious whirl of wind, was heard and everyone fell silent. The stained glass window at the front of the room cracked.
Crack.
It cracked again. Crack.
Everyone was now painfully aware of the silence of the somehow broken yet not, clock ticking in the corner.
Silence was all we heard for those few seconds.
We have to run. But why aren't we moving?
Then I understood. We didn't plan this attack. The heroes did.
The window shattered into tiny bits of pieces. The enemy had arrived. The opposing sides stared at each other for one moment, then all hell broke loose.
