"It's been two weeks, Adelaide, and now you want to go to some party for a pretty boy? You don't even party!" Hayden whined from the passenger seat of my new Jeep Wrangler. She sank in her seat and left her feet lying on the dashboard. I felt so awful for her because she hasn't heard from Harry in what felt like months but it's only been two weeks. I even asked Niall if he's been around and he told me he had no idea where he was but I guess this happens often so we shouldn't worry. "Just drop me off at home, I want to be alone," she mumbled and I followed through with her wishes and drove us home.
It wasn't long before we made it home and I put the vehicle in park, Hayden ran to her bedroom, where she has been spending most of her time. I threw my keys on the kitchen counter beside my purse, I tucked my phone into the pocket of my sweater and slipped out the door.
I walked for what felt like ages before coming across a very nice Italian restaurant, looking in the window I saw a very familiar head of curls sitting up against the bakery counter, laughing. Without thinking, I marched myself into the restaurant, ignoring the hostess's protests and forcefully dragged Harry out of the restaurant.
"What the bloody hell?" He shouted once we got outside. He looked down at me with angry eyes but my glare was stronger and his features altered slightly. "You must be Adelaide."
"And you must be the douchebag that fucked my best friend then disappeared for two weeks!" I yelled as loud as I could, not caring about what the passerby's thought of me. He looked away from me and tugged on the collar of his Polo shirt before running his hands through his hair and returning his gaze back to mine, I gave him no time to reply before I began ranting again, "She was so worried about you and what you were doing she hardly ate, hardly left her room, couldn't pay attention to the world around her because she was too busy with checking her phone every two seconds! God, if you didn't like her why'd you lead her on like that, huh? Why did you do that to her, you know what? I don't want to hear your shitty excuses, you're apologizing to her, by force." I pulled him by his arm back towards the flat that we shared, not loosening my grip once. If he wants to play? We'll play.
HAYDEN'S POV
I heard a string of profanities before the door slammed shut, I ignored it thinking that Adelaide stubbed her toe on the dining table, I didn't know and I didn't care. What I wanted to know is why Harry did this, I thought things were great. Was I not good enough? Was I too weird? I've only had sex like four times my whole life, maybe too inexperienced? I shrugged before turning back to my bed, I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard the door squeak open.
"Adelaide, I'm not going to that stupid party so stop asking," I swung myself around thinking it was my best friend coming to negotiate with me about Niall's birthday party but instead, I came face to face with the emerald green eyes I've been obsessing over the last two weeks. My body froze and he turned to close the door, privacy reasons.
"Your best friend, she's a feisty one," he chuckled and found my gaze. I wanted to say something but it felt as if my feet were glued to the ground and somebody hit my mute button, "listen, Hayden, I'm really sorry that I just vanished without a trace and I -"
Finally finding my voice, I stopped him, "Do you have any idea how worried I've been? Thinking that it was me that made you vanish, I have tried your mobile so many times I lost count! I thought you were dead! I yelled at my best friend for gushing over her love interest because I thought you were gone! Out of my life and not looking back!" My sobs interrupted my lecture on how worried I was. I turned away to save some of my dignity and when I turned back his face was only inches from my own, our noses almost touching. His eyes were glossed over; worry and pain clouded them.
