A lot happened this summer.
1) I got a summer job at Pop's.
2) I made a friend out of Jughead Jones III.
3) I went blonde,
4) Jason Blossom, my cousin and best friend in the entire universe, drowned in Sweet Water River on July 4th.

I was laying on Betty Cooper's bed with our friend Kevin Keller. Tomorrow is the first day back to school and we will all be sophomores. Betty and Kevin are talking about her obvious crush on Archie Andrews. Her neighbor and best friend.I honestly don't know how she hasn't noticed. She's getting ready to basically confess her feelings for him tonight and oh God I hope she does it because I can't stand to watch her pine over this guy anymore.
"Game changer- Archie got hot!" I looked up from my phone and Betty and Kevin are staring out the window.
"Let me see!" I pushed my way in between the both of them. "Damn!"
"He's got abs now! Six more reasons for you to take that ginger bull by the horns tonight." Kevin was practically begging her.
"Seriously, Betty." I flopped back onto her bed as she and Kevin back away from the window.
"Hey, I don't want to hear anything about me telling Archie my feelings from you, Beverly." Betty sat back down in front of the mirror to finish getting ready.
"Why?" Kevin asked from beside me.
"Because I think it is a little hypocritical of her to nag me about my feelings when she has feelings for Reggie."
"Hey! That was supposed to be a secret!" I had told that to Betty in confidence about a year ago. Reggie and I have been basically best friends since we were little kids. And I know super cliche best friend crush but I can't help it so stop judging me.
"I can't believe you have a crush on someone who refers to themselves as 'Mantle the Magnificent'." Kevin laughed.
I pushed him off the bed as I stood up. "Shut up. I have to get home but I'll see you tomorrow."
My crush on Reggie has been blooming for quite some time now actually. I think its been since the seventh grade when I realized that boys existed. I mean I knew boys existed but that was when I found out that they existed , if you know what I mean. I realize that Reggie can be a jerk sometimes and that isn't one of my favorite things about him but I can't help but be infatuated by him. He's so tall and so hot. But he's also super sweet when he wants to be and a total dork, though he'll never admit that. We have been best friends since he and I were in the third grade. Jason introduced me to him and we all played together all the time. Reggie was really there for me when Jason died. He held me while I cried and he watched sappy movies with me and really tried any and everything to make me feel better.
