I pull my shoes on as Cheryl watches another one of Aunt P's "customers" through the window as he leaves.

"Still at it, Mother?" Cheryl asks as she walks into the house. "I thought you'd be over taking filthy wads of cash from strangers by now."

"You have now right to judge me." Aunt P says to her as we get ready to leave. "Not when you drove away the one decent chance I had at a better life."

"You mean with Hal Cooper?" Cheryl scoffs. "If that's your idea of love." Cheryl pushes past her but Aunt P grabs her.

"What would you know about it? You've never known love, Cheryl, except to rip it apart. Because you are a jealous, spite-filled, starving, emotional anorexic. Have a nice day at school, dear." She smiles evilly and walks past Cheryl.

"Cher..." I go to grab her hand but she pulls it away.

"I'm fine." She spins around and walks out the door.

I stomp into the breakfast nook where Aunt P is drinking a cup of tea. "How can you say those things to her? She's your daughter!"

She sets her cup down slowly and glares at me. "She's a spoiled selfish brat who doesn't care about anyone but herself."

"That's not true! She is an amazing person. She busts her ass everyday to try and make you happy and if you even pretend like you cared about either of us for even a second you could see that. But your too busy opening your legs to care." I voice drips venom.

She glares at me harder, if that's possible. She stands up and gets in my face. "Don't you try and lecture me about my daughter. And don't think for a second that I don't know about you and that Serpent boy, I've heard you sneaking around in the middle of the night, so I'm not the only one opening my legs around here. You may think that you're a Blossom and that all of this is yours as well as mine, " She gestures to the house with her arms, "But it's not and you will never be a Blossom. You're just a bastard Serpent's child."

"I'd rather be a bastard Serpent child than a bitch like you." Just as fast as the word leave my mouth a sharp pain sears through my cheek.

"Now go to school." She says and stomps out of the room.

I open my locker and shove some books in. I look at my cheek in the mirror on the door and it's still a little red.

"Munchkin." Reggie walks up and hugs me.

"Hey, Reg." I wrap my arms around him for a second before reaching into my locker to grab another book.

"Wow, what happened to your cheek?" He pushes my hair away and brushes his fingers against it.

I shake my head, "Nothing. I was writing last night and fell asleep on my arm." I lie easily.
