Chapter 10 – A sad tragedy

Three days have passed with lots of grumpiness, annoyance, and stubbornness. I bet I was very hard to deal with, since I don’t like Ash being here all the time, taking care of me, but yet, it was nice to have him by my side. The first day was with Aunt Sarah, Ash and Stephen, so I got to admit it was quite fun, even though we watch that horrible movie.

The second day was alright since Ash was there at the afternoon even though we had argued since I refused to eat the medicine the doctor had gave me, it tasted really bitter.

Who knew Ash could be stubborn if he wanted to?

At the evening, Aunt Sarah and Stephen paid me a visit; they usually visit me at the evening while Ash visits me in the afternoon after school. No one comes when its morning; since I’ll be sleeping and they didn’t want to disturb me. So basically, they switch places even though I told them that I’m fine by myself, because really, aren’t I causing them any inconvenience?

They told me that they didn’t mind at all and they really wanted to see me and hang out. Ash definitely prove it to me though because at the evening, when Aunt Sarah and Stephen came, he was supposed to leave since they were switching places, but he decided that he didn’t want to, so he stayed till’ night.

The third day, Ash brought in our school homework and he decided to teach me on what I missed out in school. I didn’t want to cooperate with him, since it was really boring and I’m never a huge fan of studying or learning in any matter.

Surprisingly, even though I never paid attention in class, I always have good grades.

The end, he taught me patiently and I decided to cooperate, since he had done so much for me, though I did not tell him or thank him for anything he did at all. Sounds mean and rude, but I don’t express my feelings.

Though I didn’t, we were in good terms and I also stop myself from snapping at him anymore, well sometimes. It was already a huge step for me and Ash knows it.

So, switching back to the present, the fourth day, since tomorrow will be the last day in the hospital, the day after that, in the morning, I’ll already be packing my bags and it’s goodbye hospital.  My wounds are healing great, including my back, it hadn’t fully recovered, but it was definitely better since it didn’t ache that much anymore. I can also move around!

Sometimes the wound gets itchy though. I have to restrain myself from scratching it, well, with a little help from Ash as well. Yes, Ash again. Why is he taking care of me in the first place anyway? Before I was admitted to the hospital, I was rude and mean to him, pushing him away.

     So why would he?

If I was him, I wouldn’t have cared at all after all those rude and nasty remarks. Oh well, he’s different. He’s nice and kind hearted. Oh great, how did I get from hating him to complimenting him?

“Are you listening to me, Dawn?”

I hurry snapped out of my thoughts and gave him an innocent smile with a nod. “Oh really?” He arched one of his eyebrows and continued, “Tell me what I’ve been saying.” He stared at me, and I looked down at my mathematics book, searching for an answer.

Yes, he’s teaching me again on what I had missed out in school today, which is algebra, but what has he been saying to me?

     I bit my lip.
