Chapter 9 – Romance movies are not my thing
“I can eat by myself without your help.” I stated, refusing to open my mouth even though the spoonful of chicken soup in front of me is making my mouth water.
This was the first day of my five-days-in-hell, I mean; I could be somewhere else by now, probably hunting vampires in such a sunny day instead of staying in the hospital, on the bed doing nothing at all. Well, if you count watching the television, sleeping and eating as nothing.
Plus, doing this for five days? That’s just sick.
I have an urge to call the doctor in again and start bargaining about the days I need to spend in this dreadful place. Yes, again. I did call him twice and started persuading him if I could go back home earlier. To prove him, I started moving around and acting like I was fine but actually it hurt real bad, and still, he declined.
I went through all that pain for nothing.
Oh why do I have to be in such a bad condition? To top it off, bossy Ash isn’t helping at all.
“Stop being so freaking stubborn and open up your mouth, Dawn. Does it look like you can use your hands with those bandages on? It’s going to hurt.” I looked down at my hands pathetically.
My hands isn't that bad. I took a glance at it again and sighed.
Okay, so it is that bad, but then I’ll still manage. I don’t need help from anyone. I’m perfectly capable of doing everything myself. If you ask for help, that means you're showing signs of weakness, and I’m nowhere near that. Ash was still waiting for my stubborn mouth to open.
“It’s getting cold and I know you want it.” He sang it in a sing song voice. Who knew he could be so childish?
Argh.
I looked away and open my mouth slightly. When Ash saw how my mouth parted, he immediately exhaled in relief and shoved a spoonful of chicken soup in my mouth.
I enjoyed it a lot, I tried my best not to moan in front of him or else it’ll be really awkward. Ash had a satisfied look on his face like he had accomplished something. I rolled my eyes and chew bits of shredded chicken in my mouth.
As he was feeding me, I looked at him from the corner of my eye.
He looks better and clean now. He left Sunday night after I finally convinced him to get some rest, and after a whole night sleep, he looks way fresher with a new pair of black shirt and blue jeans. His hair was a bit shaggy and those green eyes were… sparkling? Maybe because I finally gave in as he fed me another mouthful of delicious chicken soup.
He looks… I dare not to say but here goes nothing.
Handsome.
As he was blowing the hot soup for me, we heard a knock on the door as a really cheerful Aunt Sarah and grumpy Stephen came in. “How are both of you young teenagers doing?” She asked as she placed the bags down on the small table.
What was inside those bags?
She saw me eyeing it and told me. “I brought those comfortable clothes you like since I don’t think you want to wear that robe where all those sick people had worn before.” She pointed towards the robe I was wearing, and I gave her a bright smile. Oh, I’m so happy Aunt Sarah knows me well. This robe was really uncomfortable and after Aunt Sarah mentioned about the tones of sick people wearing it, I felt more disgusted.
