Grass

Sometime before chapter 6. Anna (Pre-relationship)

"Gods...! Who would have thought grass would be so comfortable!"

"Uh...doesn't really surprise me, Anna. It's where we found you, after all."

"Oh, ha ha!"

Chrom and I were taking a break from training, and I decided to relive the past and take a nap in the grass.

I stretched out my arms and legs, letting the looseness take me over. "No, seriously. It's comfortable. You should join me," I told him.

Chrom rolled his eyes at me. "Anna, I'm not going to nap on the ground. We shouldn't even be taking a long break," he said. "You need to get up."

I hummed something and completely ignored him, letting the soft grass take me in. It was lush and comforting, almost like a bed; and the scent made me want to lay in it forever. The sky was cloudless, giving the sun a bright glow. The warmth enveloped me like a welcoming blanket, and it all kind of started to make sense as to why I was first found napping in a field, it's so comfortable.

I heard Chrom attempt to get my attention, but all his words were lost to me. All I could focus on was the serenity of the scene.

My attention wasn't anywhere else until I heard the rustle of grass beside me. I opened an eye to see Chrom on his back, laying down next to me. His arms were behind his head, and he already looked like he was halfway to sleep.

"Hypocrite,"

"Shut up."

I giggled softly and closed my eyes once more...only to open them once more to look at the sleeping prince.

He looks so peaceful...I'm glad...! I really enjoy when he's able to relax and unwind like this...it really shows the side of Chrom not many people know...

The side that I fell in love with...

AH! NO!

Nonononono! Bad, Anna! Bad! Stop it! Besides, I love all sides of him... His rough commander façade... His kind nature... His unbelievably dorky personality... And so much more... I love all of it...

NOOOO!!!!!

I blushed furiously and turned away from him. Stop it, Anna! Stop! You can't have these strong of feelings! It's simply a crush! Nothing more! Y-yeah! Anyone would develop feelings for Chrom if they spent as much time with him as I do! Luckily, no one does.

Ok, that just sounded petty.

I rolled over once more to look at him. His chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm, and he looked totally relaxed. I smiled.

...I know I can't tell myself that my feelings for him is just a crush...it's so much more...it always has been... Ever since day one... Even though we are extremely close and the best of friends, I could never really see him like an older brother or something like that. He's always been something more to me...

I shook my head and closed my eyes. Don't think that way... It's hopeless... He'll never love me... He probably just sees me as a younger sister or something... We'll never have a future together...

I sighed and drifted off to sleep, all my thoughts occupying Chrom.

Oh, Anna...that's what you think... Thank you so much for reading this prompt, I had a lot of fun writing it! The original prompt for this day was actually "Home" but I was not able to think of any solid ideas for it. Instead, I thought of the first word that comes to my mind when I think of May, and that is grass. There is nothing like finding a nice, lush patch of grass and rolling around in it... ...Also ripping up tufts of it and throwing it on your friends, good memories XD.
