CHAPTER THREE

"I'm going to kill (Y/s/n), Sasuke, you knew-" I begin, trying to keep my composure calm and blank, but Sasuke starts yelling out of anger and pain. This is the same as two years ago, and it hurts even worse than it did before.

"You lied to me! You told me that in two years, which is today, you'd come back with me to the-" Sasuke begins, but it was obvious that two years ago, he wasn't listening to a word I was saying. He was listening to what he wanted to hear.

"No, Sasuke. I told you that you would see me again. You've seen me, now go home." I say blankly, attempting to keep back the tears that were in my eyes. Sasuke noticed this and his face softened before he took another step closer to me. We were no more than a foot apart.

"(Y/n), please don't cry, I love you so much, I-" Sasuke begins, but I already had an idea of what he was going to say, so I cut him off before he could finish.

"I'll be back before you know it. You know why?" I say, a small smile, a real smile, tugging at the edges of my lips.

"No?" Sasuke questions, a look of pure confusion on his face. My smile turns into a smirk as I close the gap between us, but our bodies weren't touching. I placed my chin on his shoulder and his body tensed completely.

"Because I love you too, you idiot." I whisper to where only he could hear me. I then pulled back to see a shocked expression on his face. Before he could say anything else, I spun around quickly and began to run away from them, but Naruto had other plans.

"(Y/N) WAIT! PLEASE STOP, YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN MAKE SASUKE ACT LIKE SASUKE! HE'S DIFFERENT WITHOUT YOU! He's depressed all the time, he never talks to any of us. Please, just come back." Naruto yelled, causing me to stop, and as soon as he seen that I wasn't running anymore, his voice softened. Was this boy trying to hurt me?

I reluctantly turned around and jumped down from the tree I was in before racing back over to the group. They were all still in the same place, except Naruto, who had started running after me, but I wasn't worried about him. My eyes found Sasuke's form, but not his eyes. His eyes were pointed to the ground, they were glassy with tears that threatened to spill, and he obviously didn't want me to see them. I walked up to him, just as close as we were before, but he still didn't look at me.

"Sasuke." I call to him, but he still refused to look at me. I sigh heavily before putting my hand under his chin and pulling his head up. His eyes slowly traveled to mine, and apparently, he was shocked at what he saw. I kept my face as soft as possible before speaking again.

"Sasuke, I swear that I will return to you." I say, a look of determination flashing in my eyes. Sasuke's eyes widen even further before he reaches his hand up and takes mine away from his face.

"You swear?" Sasuke asks, hope lacing the words as he spoke. A smirk breaks onto my lips and I nod my head once.

"I put it on my life. And you know I don't die so easily." I say and then drop the smirk from my face and replace it with a genuine smile. And what I did next shocked them all. I pulled Sasuke closer to me and gently placed my lips on his cheek before pulling away just as quickly. When I pulled away, I could see Sasuke's cheeks ablaze, painted bright red, and wide eyed. I dropped the smile all together and turned back around, racing back through the trees, my team following immediately.

It had only been about five minutes, and my heart already feels like it's shattered. I really didn't want to have to leave them, yes even Naruto. That idiot may have been just that, an idiot, but he was loyal, true. He's a bright person, a wonderful friend.

And again, it had only been five minutes, but it was never too soon for Karin to make comments to piss me off, even though she didn't think I could hear her in the first place.
