The Void's Protector: Nova Fire

Bright Feelings

We walked back to Sasha's house and she gave us some food for the trip. It was my idea, besides I was hungry. Then we sprinted off again, we have to hurry before things get worse. I was eating a granola bar and it was starting to get dark.

"We need some shelter for the night," I spoke after a long silence.

"Don't worry, we're almost there," Tyler responded. We came up on this old shack, it reminded me of a really large outhouse. We walked inside and I saw that it looked like there was a previous fire here.

"So you've been here before?"

"Yeah, it's a good place to stay. Though it could be so much better." I was starting to get a lot colder than usual and Tyler was starting to notice that I was shivering. He took off his jacket and put it on me, it was like a blanket on me.

"Thanks but you didn't have to,"

"You were cold and I was getting a little steamy." We laughed a little then it got painfully awkward. He's being so nice, it's cute too of how awkward he is. We placed down some branches and he put a lightning bolt as I put a spark of fire on the wood. It lit up instantly with green fire and stayed that way. "Maybe we should have said who should have done it,"

"I like it, my favorite color is green." There was a log close to the fire and we sat down next to each other. I got hot again so I gave him back his jacket, it was getting a little toasty again. "I had the strangest dream that Kris was alive," I stated after a long silence.

"Really? What did she say?"

"She said that she'll see me in a couple hours and explain everything,"

"Wait, she's really alive?"

"I want to believe it, she said that I saved her life with the last fireball I had," I muttered blankly.

"Are you ok?" He asked waving his hand in my face.

"Uh, yeah! I just wonder what Vaneita is going through. She probably thinks it's her fault,"

"Andrew and Anthony are trying to find her. We tried to say that it wasn't but she disappeared." I would feel that way if I did that, I don't want to hurt anybody. It got painful awkward again, that's when Midnight got up.

"Where are you going?" I asked and she trotted towards the doorway.

"I'm hungry, I'm going to go get some mice in the forest. Be back in a little while," she chimed and trotted away.

"Well, the cat is out." Tyler joked. It made me laugh a little, then all that was heard was Midnight hissing.

"I heard that!" Which made me laugh even harder. The fire lit everything up with a green glow, though it wasn't as bright as a regular fire it got brighter the more we talked. I was starting to notice, but as long as I could see it was ok. I was starting to over think about Vaneita, it wasn't her fault. Tyler came and hugged me around my neck, I smiled.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"You seem sad so I do what anyone would do when their friend is sad." I hugged him back and the log tipped forward a little and we fell. We were just laughing and I was laying on top of him. I stared into his amazing eyes, then realized that I was on top of him. I sat up next to him and he sat up.

"Sorry," I sighed looking away.

"Don't be sorry, it was an accident." We sat back onto the log and started talking. "Did you like anyone in your old school?"

"No, they were very annoying to me but I like someone now,"

"Who is that?"

"Well- uh, he goes to our school and um, you wouldn't know him. He's not in any of our classes- I mean your classes. He's just a guy," I stuttered.

"What's he like?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"He's really nice and smart, very funny to the point of its hilarious. He's kind, and has amazing eyes..." I faded off at the end of my sentence.

"Eyes huh? Describe them," he laughed with a smile.

"Enough about my person, who do you like?" I asked turning the tables.

"Well, she adventurous and very crazy. She's funny and her sense of sarcasm is beyond amazing," she sounds very interesting, also knows a little sarcasm.

"Wow, I would like to meet that person,"

"I have a feeling you two would get along just nicely,"

"Is she someone from the team?"

"Well actually she's new,"

"Really? Did she get here before or after me?"

"Let's just get off this topic,"

"How did we even get on this topic?"

"I don't remember." Then there was a long pause. These feelings aren't new, it's just he's new. I want to like him but I have a feeling it won't last. Sometimes he can be a bit of a control freak. Especially when it comes to something about me. When I want to get something he goes and grabs it for me. At first, I thought he was trying to be nice but he kept doing it and being persistent about it. Almost like he thinks I can't do anything myself. I can't hang out with any of his guy friends with out him standing over me for some reason. Though he might change, he just wants to make sure I'm alright and I love that about him.

"I-" He was interrupted by a rustle outside. "Midnight is back already? That was quick." I looked out, the window and my heart dropped. The same bright blue eyes, and sharp teeth.

"Tyler, we got company." Lightning started swarming around his hands. Then a silver metal staff appeared with golden triangles on each end. I cupped my hands and had one single fire ball floating over it. Then it shaped into a dagger and started to grow. I pulled out my sword from the fire and the symbols on it shone in the darkness. 

"Ready to fight?"

"Let's take back the night," I said and walked out the shack. We walked out and there had to be hundreds of them. "I wish the rest of the team was here," I said quietly.

"Don't worry, we can handle them," Tyler said with a grin. I summoned another sword, I'm going to need it. Then we started fighting, I was slicing all these shadows to pieces but they found openings on me and sliced me. There are too many of them! Slicing them in pieces makes them come back from those pieces. Tyler grabbed me and we started running. Then one crawler sliced my back and side, then my leg. I cut its head off and we continued running, all the way into a cave. They piled in and we had our backs to the wall. My body finally collapsed on the ground, my leg was bleeding out. Tyler stepped in between us with lightning going around his body. They started fighting as I struggled to get back up, but they hit him down to my level.

"This looks like a bad end," I panted.

"It doesn't have to be all bad. At least I found you," He sighed with a smile.

"Well, I liked seeing you too. It was fun while it lasted." He leaned in and I did too, our lips came together. I had lightning going around my body and we were both on fire. There was green lightning and green fire around both of us. All I heard was a huge explosion and a lot of sizzling. I let go and looked around, we made them all explode. There was black dust everywhere, and smoke.

"That was amazing!" Midnight shouted.

"What happened?" I asked.

"You guys shot this huge green lightning bolt and fireball mixed together at them,"

"Sounds amazing,"

"So, you both admitted that you liked each other. That was a win win here,"

"Well, I never thought it would turn out like this,"

"That we are destructive together, that is actually a pretty good turn out." Tyler joked. It is really awesome, but we need to fix that later. I looked at him and saw that he looked as good as new. I felt as like I was as good as new, looked at my self and saw only ripped clothing where scratches were supposed to be.

"That is also a win," I laughed slowly coming to my feet.

"This night actually had a great ending." I put my hand in his hand and we walked back to the shack. There was green lightning going around our hands and it was on fire. Either I was very tired or the smoke looked like it was shaped as hearts.
