In the middle of brushing my hair, I heard a loud cry come from the living room.

"What's going on?" I shouted.

"Coco bit me," Jarvis answered.

I slammed my comb down onto the bathroom counter and stormed out to the scene of the commotion. Normani was on the floor with Jarvis trying to get him to show her his hand.

"I told you not to leave him alone with that devil dog," I scolded Normani.

"Well, I told Jarvis to stop pulling her tail. What do you expect a dog to do? Coco doesn't know any better. Can you take a look at his hand?" Normani asked.

"I'm sure it's not bad. Just put some alcohol and a band aid on it. I have to get to work," I responded.

Normani rolled her eyes. "It's not work if you aren't charging people."

"I have paying patients; I'm just not charging the poor," I countered.

"Half of your patients are poor," said Normani. "I thought only rich people wasted their time on voodoo medicine."

I huffed, "I'm trying to help the less fortunate. It's the least I can do since this is the only major country in the world without universal healthcare coverage."

Normani sighed, "Tell that to Jarvis when he has to go to a community college because his college fund is non-existent."

"College should be free, too," I retorted. Suddenly, I could hear the loud sounds of a large vehicle driving by. "Did he miss the school bus again?"

A couple of years back, our approval as foster parents didn't happen before Jarvis had to be removed from our home, as expected. He was placed with people who were already approved as foster parents and bounced from home to home. Eventually, we got approved, but had to fight through the bureaucracy to get Jarvis placed back with us. Our adoption was just finalized last month.

Dinah got serious with a guy, and they're now living together. I graduated and started my own practice. Normani has a fashion blog that is doing well. To be honest, it's the reason why we had the money to put a down payment on the house. Oh, and we got married a few months ago.

And, one might be wondering what happened to Camila. She had a couple of hit songs, but was arrested after bringing a gun to my office and threatening to kill everyone inside. She's currently serving five years in prison, but will probably get out in less than three. The woman belongs in a mental hospital.

Ally never got her big break, but at least she and Normani healed their friendship. She's always offering to babysit Jarvis for free. As for Coco, I've been trying to convince Normani to put that dog down before she kills our child. The rat was doing all right until Jarvis came back because she was no longer the center of attention. Take this as a warning for what will happen when you treat your dogs like they're human. Anyway, we're happy even though our son lives in terror of the family pet.
