A/N: I apologize for the short chapter, but I haven't updated for three weeks and needed to get something out. And, I made another Laurmani video called "Laurmani is Suspect, and Camren is Incest." You can watch it above.
A splatter of something cold on my face woke me up after my drunken night. My eyes slowly creaked open to see Normani hovering over me. "What are you doing?"
"I'm shaving your sideburns," Normani answered.
"What the fuck? Get off of me!" I yelled.
I popped up and pushed Normani down on my bed. We began wrestling all while shaving cream was dripping from the side of my face. She had me beat with the upper body strength. I wasn't prepared and was quickly pinned down with Normani on top of me. Then, came the awkward silence as we stared at each other until Normani found a way to snap us back to reality.
"Get your funky ass in the shower. You smell like sweat and liquor," she quipped.
I really needed to start remembering to lock my door. Anyway, I got my funky ass in the shower and brushed my teeth when I got out. Luckily, I came out of my bathroom with a towel on because Normani was still sitting on my bed.
"Why are you still here?" I questioned.
"I was wondering if you would go to the mall with me. Ally is out of town, and Dinah is at her parents' house."
"So, I'm your last resort?" I asked.
"Gosh, why do you have to think of it that way? Let's just say that you're my third choice, but there is also no fourth choice," said Normani.
"Whatever. I'll go. I need a new bomber jacket," I responded.
Normani looked disgusted by my sense of fashion, but she, fortunately, kept her mouth closed. She insisted that we ride in her Range Rover because my hooptie was embarrassing. When we got to the mall, she was nice enough to go to the stores I wanted to go to first since she would take a longer time shopping. I found the bomber jacket I wanted, and we went to a half a dozen places for Normani to shop for shoes, purses, jewelry, and clothing.
Normani was looking for accessories at one store when I separated from her to see if I could find some stuff from myself. One store employee was stalking her, and Normani kept giving her dirty looks. Finally, the employee said something to her.
"Can I help you find anything?"
"No thank you. I'm just browsing," Normani replied.
"Okay. Let me know if you need anything," said the employee. Then, she continued to pretend like she was restocking things while keeping an eye on Normani.
Eventually, Normani got fed up and snapped at the employee. "Do I look like I'm stealing? Why don't you go bother that white chick over there? She's the one who looks poor and has her bag open."
I went over to Normani and grabbed her by the hand to lead her out of the store. "Let's go. They obviously don't need our business."
I tried to get Normani to go to another store, but she was so upset that she just wanted to go home. We walked out to her SUV, put our bags in the back, and belted ourselves in our seats.
"It's a shame that we're still being treated differently in 2016 just because we're people of color," I commented.
"Lauren, shut up," Normani snapped.
"What did I say?" I exclaimed.
"Was that lady following you around?" she asked.
"No," I replied.
"And, do you know why?" she questioned.
"Uh...I don't know."
"It's because you're white," Normani pointed out.
"I'm not white," I contested.
"Despite your denial of being a Caucasian person with green eyes, straight hair, pale skin, and a pointy nose, people see you as white. If they think you're white, they're going to treat you as if you're white. So, stop pretending that you get the same treatment as someone who looks like me," Normani argued.
Whoa. I never would have guessed that Normani could get so passionate about social issues. She was right. She was the one being harassed, so I wasn't going to argue with her. She was upset enough and rightfully so.
When we got inside the house, Normani found a pair of scissors and sat down on the couch to cut tags off her purchases. I sat down next to her and watched.
"Why are you staring at me?" asked Normani.
"You're so hot," I responded.
"Duh. That's not news," she said.
I explained, "I'm not just talking about physically hot. I didn't know that you were so socially aware."
Normani glared at me and responded. "I might have my blonde moments and hate reading, but I'm not uneducated. I watch the news and stay on top of what's going on in the world."
"Do you watch Fox News?" I inquired.
"Hell, no!"
"Who are you voting for in the presidential primaries?" I asked.
"Probably Bernie Sanders, but I'll take Hillary Clinton over any of the Republicans," Normani answered.
"Do you believe in global warming?" I questioned.
"Yes," she replied.
"I think I'm in love."
Normani chuckled lowly. "Contain yourself. You know I don't swing that way."
"Riiiiight," I responded.
"What? I don't swing that way," she reiterated.
"I don't know," I countered. "You were trying to sleep with me last night, and I heard about what really happened between you and Camila."
Normani's eyes widened, and she gasped, "What did Dinah tell you? That was an experimental time in my life."
"Suuurrrre," I jested.
Normani shoved me, and we started wrestling like we did earlier that day. However, I was able to get a good grip of Normani with my legs this time and had her pinned down. Once again, there was an awkward silence as we stared at each other. I could have been wrong about the sexual tension I sensed between us, but I risked getting the shit kicked out of me and planted a kiss on Normani. Then, I quickly pulled away to assess her reaction.
She glared at me for a moment and pulled me down attaching her lips to mine. We French kissed aggressively as Normani tousled my hair, and I ran my hand up and down her side. Eventually, I had to come up for air.
"What were the results of that experiment?" I joked while panting.
Before Normani could answer, Dinah came through the door seeing me on top of Normani. We must have missed hearing the door unlock while we were making out.
"Uh. What are you two doing?" Dinah inquired.
Normani pushed me off of her and sat up. "Lauren and I were just play fighting."
"Mmmhmm," Dinah smirked. She then walked to the kitchen to put away a food dish she was carrying.
I got up from the couch to go to my room, but before I did, I leaned down to give Normani one last peck on the lips while Dinah wasn't looking. "We'll finish this later."
